Dear Mandy£¬
I'm not doing well in my lessons at school£¬especial in maths. My dad says I must try hard because he wants me go to university. He thinks I'm lazy£¬but it's not true. I work really hard£¬often study late into the night! I've tried to talk to my mother£¬but she always said I have to work as hard like my brother does. My brother doesn't study very hard£¬and he always gets excellent grades. It's not fair!
The only thing I like it is art. My teacher says I'm the best student she's had for year. When I told my dad£¬all he said was£¬¡° You mustn¡¯t waste your time in art. You must focus your mind on your lessons! ¡±
I'm feeling quite puzzling as to what to do now. Would you please help me out?
Thanks a lot!
Yours sincerely£¬ Lisa

My most ¡¾1¡¿ (embarrass) moment occurred last month. I was invited to attend an interview for a job as a hotel receptionist(½Ó´ýÔ±). I arrived on time and was shown into the manager¡¯s once by an assistant. I was so nervous ¡¾2¡¿ I didn¡¯t catch the manager¡¯s name. The interview began. £¢Do you have any previous experience in hotels?£¢asked the manager. £¢No sir,£¢I said. The manager frowned(Öåü). £¢Are you good at using computers?£¢£¢Yes, sir. I am familiar ¡¾3¡¿ most kinds of popular software.£¢The manager frowned again. He didn¡¯t look like a friendly person. The interview continued. Every answer I gave ¡¾4¡¿(receive) by a frown from the manager, even though I told him about my ¡¾5¡¿ (society) skills, my knowledge of French and so on. __¡¾6¡¿__ (obvious), I was doing very badly. At last, the interview came to an end. £¢One final question,£¢said the manager.£¢¡¾7¡¿ good is your eyesight?£¢£¢Excellent, sir,£¢I replied.£¢Very well.£¢said the manager.£¢Thank you for coming.£¢ I stood up to shake hands. When the manager stood up as well, I realized what I had been doing wrong. The gentleman, ¡¾8¡¿ I had been calling £¢sir£¢, during the whole interview __¡¾9¡¿__(wear) a skirt! The manager was a woman! Of course, I didn¡¯t get ¡¾10¡¿ job.

When people think about valuable things, they usually think about money or jewelry. I am not very rich, and I have something very preciously in my room. It's not a computer or a smart phone. It's the view from my window. I'm lucky live near a park. My window faces with the tops of the trees in the park. Below the tree I can see children on the playground, young couples walked quietly, and mothers with children. There are also some old people sitting in the beach. The whole world was before their eyes. My classmates like to go online or listen to music, but when I have free time, I just sit on the chair and enjoying the most precious thing in my room: the view.

¡¾ÌâÄ¿¡¿You may have experienced the frustration(´ì°Ü¸Ð)of being slapped with a parking fine(·£¿î)or finding your car held firmly in the place after leaving it parked precariously(²»°²È«µÄ) for a couple of minutes. But now a high-tech car sticker that's designed to be stuck to a car¡¯s windscreen, could help motorists avoid such a situation by allowing a traffic warden£¨¹ÜÀíÔ±£©to get in touch with them.
The TowStop sticker sends a text message to a driver when it is touched by a traffic warden, to allow motorists to send a reply and give them time to move their car immediately. It¡¯s designed to save drivers time and money by giving them a chance to move their car instead of having it towed(ÍÏ) away but relies on the good will of traffic wardens. Frankfurt-based IT consultant(¹ËÎÊ), Daniel Kalliontzis, came up with the idea and is raising funds on Indiegogo to put his 54 (43) sticker into production.
Car owners can buy the sticker and place it inside their car's windscreen, having set it up with important information, such as their phone number. The message will ask them to move their car immediately .The driver could then type a reply for the warden using their smartphone, which will appear on the sticker's screen. They may choose to write something along the lines of back in two minutes in a bid to avoid a fine.
The smart sticker system will rely on the good will of traffic wardens and critically, a German law. The law states: An officer has to choose the most efficient nd inexpensive way for the car owner to remove the vehicle. It could be cheaper for the authorities to contact the driver than to tow his car.
¡¾1¡¿What is the purpose of the first paragraph?
A. To arouse readers¡¯ interest in the new invention.
B. To tell readers some ways of parking cars.
C. To show drivers how to avoid parking fine.
D. To disclose(½Òʾ)how traffic wardens fine drivers.
¡¾2¡¿Daniel Kalliontzis came up with the idea of the slicker so that______.
A. traffic can be smooth
B. drivers can avoid being fined
C. cars can be put in safe places
D. laws can be carried out
¡¾3¡¿If traffic warden wants to send a text message to the driver, he should_______.
A. slap the windscreen B. strike the wheel
C. use a smartphone D. touch the sticker
¡¾4¡¿From the passage we know that________.
A. a German traffic warden is required to remind car owners to move their cars
B. the TowStop sticker will cost drivers much time and money
C. not many drivers will mind being fined
D. car owners must buy the stickers by law

Last Sunday I went to the Bird¡¯s Nest Stadium, there I met some young America tourists.
I greeted to each other and began to chat. From chat I learned that they were college students study at Beijing Language University. They all seem to love Chinese culture. As walking, they were busy taking picture of the Stadium. Apparently, we were impressed by the grand gym. But then I felt very proud that China was becoming more and more attractive for foreigners.
