    Thanksgiving Feast

    　　On the fourth Thursday in November, Americans celebrate the festival of Thanksgiving．This festival is a time when the family comes together for a meal and gives thanks to God for the blessings they have received. The first Thanksgiving festival was celebrated by the early American settlers who gave thanks to God for their good harvest.

    　　In America, Thanksgiving is a family holiday. It is on that holiday that all the family members make a special effort to get together. The feast is always held on Thursday and most people have a four-day holiday from school and work. Thus they are able to travel a great distance to be with their family.

    　　The Thanksgiving meal is traditionally turkey, which was the food for the first Thanksgiving. The table is filled with fruits, walnuts and many kinds of vegetables. For dessert the main choice is usually pumpkin pie. The meal is a time for the members of the talking before the meal, during the meal and long after the meal.

    　　On Thanksgiving morning there are sporting events and parades in many cities to mark the day. The family dinner is usually held in the afternoon around 4 o'clock. The mother will prepare the meal and the father will carve the turkey. He will preside at the head of the table. The meal will begin with a short prayer of thanksgiving to God for the blessing the family received. The father will also thank the family for coming together on this day. During the meal there is plenty of food for everyone present. The meal is a very joyful time. When the meal is over some will help with the dishes and others will return to the living room to talk or watch television.

    　　In many ways the festival of Thanksgiving is similar to the Chinese festival of Mid-Autumn Day. It is a time for the family to get together for dinner.

         A mobile phone service which makes your handset scream when it's been stolen has been started,
    with its makers claiming it could put an end to mobile theft altogether.
         The Remote XT system uses software to link customers' mobile phones directly to a secure remote

    is lost or stolen, they can dial a 24-hour call centre and have it registered. The handset is then disabled,
    and cannot even be used if a new SIM card is put in. At the same time, the system sets off an alarm

         Existing data is also wiped off the phone but, because the information has been stored centrally,         
    as soon as the victim gets a news phone, the system designers said.
         "By making mobiles unusable to anyone but the rightful owner the phones become worthless and we
    will see the market for stolen handsets stopped once and for all," said Mark Whiteman, managing
    director of Remote XT. For the moment the system is aimed at business customers and comes with a
    fee of 9.99 pounds per month, possibly available to the majority of average users within two years as
    mobile technology advances.

    years, with one third of all UK robberies now solely involving mobile phones.

    queue up to get a table at a restaurant. The people of these other European countries have more than one
    entrance to their buses, which could explain their more relaxed attitude to the queue.

    the Internet, which allows us to carry out tasks quickly, is the main reason why British people are no longer
    prepared to queue? As the Internet has become more popular among shoppers, impatience with queuing has
    increased.
         [5] "Used to buying without delay, customers are even abandoning purchases rather than wait their turn,"
    says Stuart Neal of Barclaycard. "Shoppers are also less likely to queue for longer if the item they are buying
    is of low value." Perhaps I will have to replace "queuing" with"impatience" in my list of things I associate with
