Dear John,
How have you been lately? I really miss the days we spent together. It was so nice to be with you. However, some of your living and working habits, I have noticed, are not good enough for your health. As one of your best friends, I do hope that you can make some changes.
First and foremost, you had better rebalance your work and life, and avoid staying up too late. Besides, never eat too much junk food, which I think will contribute to your weight. More importantly, do not sit before your computer, surfing the Net for too long, since it will do harm to your eyesight. Instead, you may take part in more outdoor activities. I am sure you will enjoy a healthier life by improving your habits actively.
Best wishes and keep in touch.
Yours,
Li Hua

Among my peers, the most common reasons to sit in front are: poor vision, poor hearing, and harder to fall asleep (my main reason).
That¡¯s about it. I¡¯ve sat in the back and I¡¯ve sat in the front, and I¡¯ve seen no difference in how professors treat me. In fact, I sat in the front of my math class and still fell asleep a lot. I went to office hours for that class regularly and asked the professor if it bothered him and he said he understood completely. I put in the work outside the classroom and performed well on exams, and that¡¯s what ends up on the transcript (³É¼¨µ¥).
From my experience, going to office hours regularly, emailing questions that may be beyond the scope of class just out of your own curiosity, and reading ahead of time so you can ask good relevant questions are the best ways to give a professor a good impression. Where I¡¯ve sat in the classroom hasn¡¯t noticeably affected a professor¡¯s opinion of me in the slightest.
Typically, sitting at the front indicates to me that you want to hear everything I say and want to have more one-on-one questioning with me. Sitting in the middle suggests that you want to fit in, and will be better at group work. Sitting in the back usually means that you want to play with your phone. The people in the front seats will often get the highest grades, dropping as the rows go back. Yes, of course, this is a tendency and
I have not noticed where to sit has any effect on attentiveness, participation and respectful behavior. I have noticed though, that students who sit in the back row are almost always disrespectful and inattentive. I have not observed any correlation between achievement and seat location, even though when I was a student myself, I usually preferred to sit in the front.
¡¾1¡¿According to the author, the best ways to impress professors do NOT include _____.
A. preparing for the class in advance B. asking questions through emailing
C. going to office hours regularly D. sitting in the front in every class
¡¾2¡¿What is the author¡¯s opinion of students sitting in the front?
A. They may be better at group work.
B. They may want to stay awake in class.
C. They want to play with their phones.
D. Their grades are always the highest.
¡¾3¡¿What is the author¡¯s purpose of writing the passage?
A. To persuade students to sit in the front.
B. To analyze the advantages of sitting in the back.
C. To show the effect of seating on study results.
D. To discuss different seat locations in the class.

¡¾ÌâÄ¿¡¿Mike the Headless Chicken Festival
In 1945, farmer Lloyd Olsen attempted to cut off the head of Mike, a chicken, so his wife could cook it up for dinner. However, the bird didn¡¯t die and lived another year and a half, making regular trips to the fair, where people paid a quarter to see the amazing headless bird.
Today, the spirit of Mike the Headless Chicken is celebrated with a two-day May festival in Fruita, Colorado, which includes live music, a golf tournament and lots of delicious chicken.
Roswell UFO Festival
In the summer of 1947, a flying saucer (µú×´Îï) crashed on a large farm outside the town of Roswell, New Mexico. The government says it didn¡¯t come from outer space, while many top UFO researchers believe it did.
Knowing a good thing when it crashes in their backyard, the citizens of Roswell celebrate the event every July with a three-day festival that features a costume contest, a parade and other activities. Be careful, though ¡ª that strange little person next to you could be from another planet!
World¡¯s Largest Rattlesnake Roundup
The rattlesnake, a poisonous American snake, serves an important function in nature by keeping small pests under control, but when their numbers grow too large, they can cause serious problems for farmers. That¡¯s why every March the residents of Sweetwater, Texas, host a three-day festival in association with the town¡¯s annual rattlesnake hunt.
Visitors can learn about rattlesnakes, take a bus tour of their natural habitat, participate in a rattlesnake eating contest and so on.
Bug Fest
Every September, the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh sponsors a daylong festival that focuses on something most people try to avoid: insects.
Visitors can hold bugs that are not native, cheer on racing insects and learn about beekeeping. But the highlight for many is Caf¨¦ Insecta, where bugs are the main ingredient in a variety of tasty dishes.
¡¾1¡¿T Lloyd Olsen cut off the chicken¡¯s head because ________.
A. his family wanted to eat it
B. he wanted to sell its meat at the fair

I used to be the messiest person alive. Over the years, through watching others and by trial and error, I have finally found ways to come up with plans, organize them and follow through with them.
Make an outline of everything you need to have and do to make your plan happen. Make a list of all of the steps that need to be accomplished and think about what needs to be done.
Detail everything thoroughly and read over it so you can start coming up with some mental solutions of how to carry out your plans.
You should ensure that if for some reason way one doesn't work, you have way two and way three to lean back on. Therefore, different ways are needed at hand. It's just a matter of being organized. Chances are that there is always more than one way of doing things, and chances are that if one of those waysdoesn't work, one of the others will.
Committing yourself to finishing at least part ifnot all of your plan at once is also necessary. It willshow that you not only have initiative to get thingsrolling, but that you are interested in the resultsobtained with making the move to get everythingdone.
If you make a commitment to finish before aspecific time, make sure that you carry that out, andbe sure to do everything in the way you said youwould, within the time-frame you set for yourself.
Don't try to tackle (´¦Àí) more things all at atime. All that does is delay your progress, distract youand make you lose your interest, motivation andenergy.
Carrying out an effective plan requires being as organized as possible. You will only achieve this bysticking to the order of the plan and not deviating ortrying to do more at a time.
Last but not the least, you should never abandon things mid-project. It will only annoy everyonearound you including yourself. Unfinished plans are awaste of time, energy and, in some cases£¬evenmoney.
So,don't be afraid of organization. The older weget, the more necessary it becomes to have the skills to follow through with confidence and to be able tocarry through plans in an organized and manageable way. It pays to be organized, after all.
