         Home exchanges are not new. At least one group, Intervac, has been making such an arrangement
    easier since 1953. But trading online is gaining popularity these days, with several sites in operation,
    including Home Exchanges. Founded in 1992, with about 28,000 listings, this company bills itself as the
    world's largest home exchange club.
         The annual fee is usually less than US$100. Members can access thousands of sites for apartments,
    cottages, urban homes and farms around the world. Original contact is made through e-mail, with the
    following communication usually by phone. Before a match is made, potential swappers tend to discuss a
    lot.
         However, the concept may sound risky to some people. What about theft? Damage? These are
    reasonable causes for concern, but equally unlikely. As one swapper puts it, "Nobody is going to fly across the ocean or drive 600 miles to come to steal your TV. Besides, at the same time they're staying in your
    home, you are staying in their home."
         Exchange sites recommend that swappers discuss such matters ahead of time. They may fill out an
    agreement spelling out who shoulders which responsibilities if a problem arises. It does not matter if the
    agreement would hold up in court, but it does give the exchangers a little satisfaction.
         Generally, the biggest complaint among home exchangers has to do with different standards of
    cleanliness. Swappers are supposed to make sure their home is in order before they leave, but one
    person's idea of "clean" may be more forgiving than another's. Some owners say if they come back to a
    less-than-sparkling kitchen, it may be inconvenient but would not sour them on future exchanges.

    　　Roslyn Hing School on long Island recently started a pilot program using iPads in some classrooms．

    　　A growing number of schools across the U．S．are multimedia, history through gamse and math with step-by -step animation(动画)of complex problems．

    　　As part of a pilot program, Roslyn High School handed out 47 iPads on Dec．20, 2010 to the students and teachers in two humanities(人文学科)classes．The school district hopes to provide iPads eventually to all 1, 100 of its students．

    　　The iPads are to be used in class and at hom during the school year to replace texbooks, allow students to correspond with teachers and tum in papers and homework tasks, and preserve a rocord of student work in digital files．

    　　“It allows us to extend the classes beyond these four walls．”said larry Reiff, an English teacher at Roslyn who now posts all his course mateials online．

    　　But educators are still divided over whether practices to give every student a laptop have made a difference academically．

    　　“Thre is very little evidence that kids learn more, faster of better by using these machines, ”said Larry Cuban, a retried professor of eduction at Staford University．“IPads are excellent tools to attract kids, but then the fieshness wears off and you eget int hard-core problems of teaching and learning．”

    has ever done this before in the hip hop world.

         WL: Um, just the large quantity of work that I have to come up with. I produce for other artists and
    compose for them as well. And there are a lot of changes in music going on right now in Asia. And it's
    really exciting so I decided that I'm going to need a studio in New York. I'm going to need a studio in
    Taipei. And maybe the rest I can get by with just my laptop.

         WL: Well, I started doing musical theatre. And I loved it so much from the age of 13, you know.
    Actually in 2000, I did my first movie and ever since then I've been enjoying doing movies. I don't
    think I'm much of an actor. But I just love being surrounded by creative people and a lot of times doing
    music is a lonely struggle, especially composing, and arranging, producing my own albums. Acting, every
    day you get called and you're surrounded by other actors and creative people.

         WL: The first time I won, like you just said, when I was 22, it meant a lot to me. It was like…I didn't
    know I could make this happen. I didn't know I could get this kind of recognition. So back then, it was
    huge increase of confidence. And I don't want to say vanity(虚荣心), but confidence. I think every artis
    needs confidence.

         WL: Well, it can be a real pain in the neck. You know, I feel lucky that I can go back to New York
    and not be recognized and not be followed. At times it can be really, really annoying. Today many
    people own a cell phone that has a camera on it…and a blog. In the entertainment news, there's a recent
    trend of journalists or media just going on to the Internet and saying "Oh, so and so saw so and so." when
    they see a blog. You know, it's completely irresponsible but in the blog what he says can become the title
    of the newspaper article.
