         This is a dangerous world we live in. The number of murders goes up every year, people are dying
    of cancer, more people contract HIV, more teens are using drugs, etc. You know this because you have
    heard all the statistics (数据) on the news and in the paper. But do you really have a clear idea what they mean? The numbers are growing up, but how do they compare to the growth in population? The fact is
     that without knowing the background statistics mean very little.
         This growing trend of reporting only part of the information is becoming dangerous. For example,
    several years ago a high school student reported the dangers of the chemical known as dihydrogen
    monoxide. This chemical, found in most cancerous tumors(肿瘤), is often found in the blood of people
    drunk on alcohol, and causes complete physical and mental dependence. After reading his report, more
    than 75% of the students voted to forbid this dangerous chemical! Every one of the above statements is
    true, yet this chemical is necessary to all life on earth. The students made the mistake because they only
    knew a few statements and statistics, rather than the chemical's full background.
         The point of this article is that one should be aware of what is and is not being said. When one finds
    a new fact or number, one should try to consider other important information. Always remember that
    the author is trying to persuade you of his or her own view, and will leave out (省略) information that is
    different to his view. If we teenagers are to be left in this world, we had better be able to think critically
    (批判地), and form our own views, rather than be easily persuaded by another's.

    Don't talk to me．I'm busy with my iPhone．

    　　Riding a London subway, a person from China will notice one major difference：in London, people do not look at each other．In fact, eye contact is avoided at all times．That's not rudeness－people are just too busy to bother looking．

    　　Commuters love them because they are the perfect time-filler．One" app", called iShoot, is a game that features tanks．Another one, Tube Exits, tells passengers where to sit on the train to be closest to the exit of their destination(目的地)ISteam clouds the iPhoue screen when you breathe into the microphone．You can then write in the" steam" on your phone screen．

    　　For those without an iPhone, another Apple product, the iPod, may be the distraction(消遣)of choice．It's not just teenagers who"plug in" to their music--iPods are a popular way to pass the time for all ages．

    　　And if games e-books and music aren't enough to keep you occupied．Then perhaps you would prefer a film? The development of palm DVD technology means many commuters watch their favorite TV show or film on the way to work．With all this distraction, it's amazing that people still remember to get off the train．

         Don't make sudden changes. Start slowly, by waking just 15 to 30 minutes earlier than usual. Get used to this for a few days. Then cut back another 15 minutes. Do this gradually until you get to your goal time.
    Sleep earlier. You might be used to staying up late, perhaps watching TV or surfing the Internet. However, you just might fall asleep much sooner than you think.
         Put your alarm away from your bed. You have to get up out of bed to shut it off. By then, you're up.

         Make it a reward. At first you're forcing yourself to do something hard, but if you do something

    outside!) and watch the sky turn light. It's beautiful. It's now my favorite time of day.
