Dear Tom,
How time flies! We will have to say goodbye after a week, but I will never forget the beautiful days when we spent together. In my memory, you are such kind a person that you will always offer me help wherever I get into trouble. You are the most considerate person who know exactly what I need in our class.
Do you still remember that night twenty years ago? When I suddenly fell ill, you carried me to nearest hospital. Moreover, you attended to me careful while I was staying in hospital. Later, you managed to help me with my lesson. Without your help, I can not have passed the exam. Though we are parting soon, but I will keep the favors you¡¯ve ever done me in mind.
Best regards
LiHua

I was ten when I first sat with my grandmother behind the cashier(ÊÕÒø̨) in her grocery store. _¡¾1¡¿__ I quickly learned the importance of treating customers politely and saying ¡°thank you.¡±
At first I was paid in candy. _¡¾2¡¿_ I worked every day after school, and during the summer and on weekends and holidays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. My father helped me set up a bank account._ ¡¾3¡¿__
By the time I was 12, my grandmother thought I had done such a good job that she promoted me to selling cosmetics(»¯×±Æ·). I developed the ability to look customers directly in the eye. Even though I was just a kid, women would ask me such things as ¡°What color do you think I should wear?¡± I took a real interest in their questions and was able to translate what they wanted into makeup(»¯×±) ideas. _¡¾4¡¿__
The job taught me a valuable lesson: to be a successful salesperson, you didn¡¯t need to be a rocket scientist¡ªyou needed to be a great listener. _¡¾5¡¿__ Expect they are no longer women buying cosmetics from me; instead, they are kids who tell me which toys they would like to see designed and developed.
A. Later I received 50 cents an hour.
B. Before long, she let me sit there by myself.
C. I ended up selling a record amount of cosmetics.

Last week I went to a movie, it was very touching. It was a sad movie about a mother and her sons. When the child was a little boy, the mother was very poor that she had to send him to a rich couple which had no children. The boy received a very good education and twenty years later he became doctor. In his hospital, he has a patient, who was an old lady. He didn¡¯t care too much about her, for she could hardly afford for the medical care. One evening, the lady died quietly of a serious illness and on her bed the doctor found a letter, in it he discovered the truth and felt the love of a great mother. He wanted to call her ¡°mom¡±, and it was too late. Everybody in the theatre was moving to tears.

¡¾ÌâÄ¿¡¿As Internet users become more dependent on the Internet to store information, are people remembering less? If you know your computer will save information, why store it in your own personal memory, your brain? Experts are wondering if the Internet is changing what we remember and how.
In a recent study, Professor Betsy Sparrow conducted some experiments. She and her research team wanted to know the Internet is changing memory. In the first experiment, they gave people 40 unimportant facts to type into a computer. The first group of people understood that the computer would save the information. The second group understood that the computer would not save it. Later, the second group remembered the information better. People in the first group knew they could find the information again, so they did not try to remember it.
In another experiment, the researchers gave people facts to remember, and told them where to find the information on the computer. The information was in a specific computer folder (Îļþ¼Ð). Surprisingly, people later remember the folder location (λÖÃ) better than the facts. When people use the Internet, they do not remember the information. Rather, they remember how to find it. This is called "transactive memory (½»»¥¼ÇÒä)".
According to Sparrow, we are not becoming people with poor memories as a result of the Internet. Instead, computer users are developing stronger transactive memories; that is, people are learning how to organize huge quantities of information so that they are able to access(»ñÈ¡) it at a later date. This doesn't mean we are becoming either more or less intelligent, but there is no doubt that the way we use memory is changing.
¡¾1¡¿The passage begins with two questions to ________.
A. introduce the main topic
B. show the author's altitude
C. describe how to use the Interne
D. explain how to store information
¡¾2¡¿What can we learn about the first experiment?
A. Sparrow's team typed the information into a computer.
B. The two groups remembered the information equally well.
C. The first group did not try to remember the formation.
D. The second group did not understand the information.
¡¾3¡¿In transactive memory, people ________.
A. keep the information in mind
B. change the quantity of information
C. remember how to find the information
D. organize information like a computer
¡¾4¡¿What is the effect of the Internet according to Sparrow's research?
A. We are becoming more intelligent.
B. We are using memory differently.
C. We have poorer memories than before.
D. We need a better way to get information.
