We had an English story¡ªtelling competition day before yesterday. It is required that all the entries be original and interesting, and be presenting in English within five minutes. All my classmates took an actively part in the activity. Two foreign English teachers were invited to act like judges. In the end, Li Ping had got the first place. All the participants said the activity benefited us a lot in many ways. Not only did it improved their spoken English, and it also brought them much fun. We all hope that such kinds of activity can be held again.

This morning, I, together with my parents, go to the second-hand book market near my home. There were so much people that we had to push their way through the crowd. Though the market was terribly noisy, but we felt quite pleasing to be able to pick up a really good bargain. Just as we were ready leave, however, a heavy rain began to pour down. Instead of seek shelter, my parents suggested we help a couple of stall owner pack their books. Under our help, all the books were free from the rain. Our timely help was great appreciated.

On a sunny day a shepherd (ÄÁÑòÈË) walked with his two hungry sheep along a winding country path. He managed to have them two tied to each other just in case they should go separated. It was quite a long time before they arrived at a place where there was merely a small amount of fresh grass on each side of the path. Both of the sheep were so hungry that they hurried to the grass but in the separate direction as the picture showed. Unfortunately the rope fastening them was not long enough. No matter how hard they struggled, neither was able to reach the grass in front of them.

The shepherd was about to help them when he was surprised to find that one of them should voluntarily abandon the struggle, and went along with the other. Consequently, together the two sheep enjoyed the fresh grass on one side happily, and then the grass on the other.
