The number of private cars in China ________ since 2005, but only 15 percent of them ________ made in China.
A. has been increasing; areB. have increased; is
C. has been increased; isD. had increased; are
【答案】A
故选A。
The number of students is 60.
2. (1)Since自从……
He has lived here since he came.
(2)It is /has been+一段时间+since + 主语+一般过去时态+其他。
It is three years since he joined (终止性动词)the army.他参军有三年了;
It is five years since he lived(持续性动词)here.

Land Art, sometimes referred to as Earth Art or Earthworks, is a form of art which involves using physical landscapes to create art, taking art out of the museum and into the outside world. Modern Land Art movement really got going in the 1960s when American artists began creating Land Art on a large scale. Today, works of modern Land Art can be seen all over the world, sometimes right alongside much older pieces of Land Art created by people who lived thousands of years ago.
Land Art, which is not necessarily unchangeable, can take a number of forms. For examples, in 1970 Robert Smithson created the Spiral Jetty(螺旋状防波堤), made of a collection of stones and mud, in the Great Salt Lake. The American artist made a large jetty in a spiral shape which sticks out into the waters of the lake.
Reshaping the landscape is a common characteristic of Land Art, which can be created by moving parts around. People can also add things to the environment to create Land Art, like salt, which is added to the Spiral Jetty. It is possible to use plants. In all cases, Land Art is immovable.
Land Art is designed to gradually form, change, and eventually decay(衰落). That’s one of the biggest differences between Land Art and most of the art one sees in the museums. Some works of art can exist only for a few hours or days. Others are exposed to rain and wind so that they develop and decay over time, which is part of the attractiveness in the eyes of the artists.
【1】 What do we know about Robert Smithson?
A. He is a great creative artist.
B. He lives near the Great Salt Lake.

A. it shows the extreme beauty of nature

D. it offers the artists a chance to get close to nature

Cars are everywhere. In big city and small towns, the preferred method of transportation is the automobile. People can get to where they need to go quickly and easy, and it has given a new kind of freedom to many people who may not have experienced it ago. But was driving really the best thing for our society? I argue that it is not. First, pollution was a serious problem, and more cars only make them worse. There is just not way to reduce pollution without decrease the number of cars on the road. Second, cars are very dangerous. Traffic accidents are responsible tens of thousands of deaths every year. Finally, cars are so expensive for most people to afford. However, that doesn’t stop low-income families from spending the most of their money to pay for the family car.

Rhythm of Life
Choosing the right time to sleep, the correct moment to make decisions, the best hour to eat—and even go into hospital—could be your key to perfect health.
Centuries after man discovered the rhythms(节奏、韵律) of the planets and the cycles of crops, scientists have learned that we too live by precise rhythms that govern everything from our basic bodily functions to mental skills. Man is a prisoner of time.
But it’s not just the experts who are switching on to the way our bodies work. 【1】 Prince Charles consults a chart which tells him when he will be at his peak on a physical, emotional and intellectual level. Boxer Frank Bruno is another who charts his bio-rhythms to plan for big fights.
【2】 Sleep, blood pressure, hormone levels and heartbeat all follow their own clocks, which may bear only slight relation to our man-made 24-hour cycle.
Research shows that in laboratory experiments when social signals and, most importantly, light indicators such as dawn are taken away, people lose touch with the 24-hour clock and sleeping patterns change. Temperature and heartbeat cycles lengthen and settle into “days” lasting about 25 hours.
In the real world, light and dark keep adjusting internal clock to the 24-hour day. But the best indicator of performance is body temperature. As it falls from a 10 p.m. high of 37.2℃ to a pre-dawn low of 36.1℃, mental functions fall too. 【3】
The most famous example is the nuclear accident at Three Mile Island in the US. The three operators in the control room worked alternating(交替的) weeks of day, evening and night shifts. 【4】 Investigators believe this caused the workers to overlook a warning light and fail to close an open valve.
Finding the secret of what makes us tick has long fascinated scientists and work done over the last decade has yielded important clues. 【5】 For example, the time we eat may be important if we want to maximize intellectual or sporting performance. There is already evidence suggesting that the time when medicine is given to patients affects how well it works.
A. The rhythm of life is a slight beat.
B. The aim is to help us become more efficient(高效的).
C. Jenny Hope claims to have tested their body clocks to the limit.
D. This is a key reason why shift work can cause so many problems.
E. Experts say every aspect of human bodies is influenced by daily rhythms.
F. Many people study the state of their bio-rhythms before making their daily plans.
G. Such a dangerous combination never gave their bodies’ natural rhythms a chance to settle down.
