    Student Volunteers Brought Sunshine to the Elderly

    On May Day，Li Yue and Zhang Hua，students from Class Three，Grade Two，went o Sunshine Nursing Home and did some voluntary work．Upon their arrival，Li Yue and Zhang Hua were warmly welcomed，and respectfully，they presented the elderly with flowers and fruits．Then，they started working at once，cleaning the windows and sweeping the floor．Everything done，they sat in the yard chatting with the elderly people．
    When it was time for the volunteers to leave，the elderly people thanked them for their kindness．They said it was such a beautiful day that they would remember it forever．
    Li Yue and Zhang Hua were very happy．What they did has brought joy to others and enriched their own lives．

    Image was everything to me，and my image was about having what everyone else had．Now that I am older，image is still important to me，but having the latest of everything isn't．I have a lot more responsibility and adult expenses now，so I focus on buying the things I need first and worrying about wants later．This has helped me realize what you wear doesn't make you who you are．

    The team of researchers asked 83pairs of students，all strangers to each other，to solve a problem．They had to discuss this question：If only five people in the world could be saved from a world disaster，who should they be？The pairs of students had to talk over the problem either face to face or by computers．Dr．Johnson said，"They told their partners four times as much about themselves when they talked over the Internet as when they talked face to face．When the computers were fitted with （安装） cameras so that students could see each other，this limited the personal side of the conversation．"
    Generally the information was not extremely personal．It was mainly about things such as where they went to school，or where they used to live．But some students discussed their love stories，and personal childhood experiences．
    Dr．Johnson believes that e-mailing encourages people to focus on（专注于）themselves．And when they do this，they become more open，especially if there are no cameras．"If you cannot see the other person，it becomes easier to talk about yourself．This is because you are not thinking what the other person is thinking of you．So e-mailing has become the modern way of talking，"said Dr．Johnson．However，this style of talking is not entirely new．"In the 19th century people started to use the'telegraph'to communicate．Now the same kind of thing has happened and people ended up speaking more freely．"

    Studying at an university in the UK have been a good experience for me．When I first arrived，I find life very hard as I didn't know anybody here，but I soon got to know other Chinese student．Later I became accustomed to talk with people from various cultures．Besides，I made fewer friends．
    During my study，I chose to live in with my classmates in the dormitory．I think it's better than living in a British family because I can meet people from different countries easy．The courses here are excellent．I enjoy the way the teachers give lessons．We encouraged to think for ourselves，which is quite different from that I have experienced before．
