    The many wants of mankind might be regarded as making up several levels. 2. .

    The first and most basic level of wants involves food. Once this want is satisfied, a second level of wants appears: clothing and some sort of shelter. By the end of World War II these wants were satisfied for a great majority of Americans. 3. It included such items as automobiles and new houses.

    By 1957 or 1958 this third level of wants was fairly well satisfied. Then, in the late 1950s a fourth level of wants appeared: the “life-enriching” level. While the other levels involve physical satisfaction－the feeding, comfort, safety, and transportation of the human body－this level stresses mental needs for recognition, achievement and happiness. It includes a variety of goods and services, many of which could be called “luxury” items. Among them are vacation trips, the best medical care, and entertainment. 4.

    On this level, a greater percentage of consumer spending goes to services, while on the first three levels more is spent on goods. Will consumers raise their sights to a fifth level of wants as their income increases, or will they continue to demand luxuries and personal services on the fourth level?

    A fifth level probably would involve wants that can be achieved best by community action. Consumers may be spending more on taxes to pay for government action against disease, ignorance, crime and prejudice. 5. In this way, we can enjoy more fully the good things on the first four levels.

    Growing up is not easy. Sometimes all that is need is someone to rely on. For many years, she was Mum. My mother was a career woman and has her own problems to take care, but when I needed her, she was always there. Her strength came from anywhere, I don't quite know, somewhere very deep. She was so strong that she would never break down, even while I went to her with all my little boy’s annoyed problems and shout at her.     The typical price per piece of Lego has been slightly more than $10 since 2005. At $101 for 160 pieces, this set is about $ 0.6 per piece. It is a great deal.

    But there are some downsides: no wheels, bushes, trees, grass, technic elements and that sort of thing, otherwise this is a fantastic starter set.

    I got this set as a Black Friday deal for an amazing $30! I wanted 2 sets but they were gone before I could even get my hands on one. A very nice man gave me a spare that he grabbed. It’s huge, strong and well-made. The box is about 2 feet tall and is strong enough for a storage option. I will absolutely be looking to get another set one day!

    Who is smarter? A human being or artificial intelligence（人工智能）?

    The question swept the world last week when a Google-developed program called AlphaGo defeated the world top player, South Korean Lee Se-del, 4-1.

    So, what comes next?

    Some people have been arguing that artificial intelligence, or AI in short, will be a bad thing for humans. In an interview with the BBC in 2014, UK scientist Stephen Hawking warned that “the development of full artificial intelligence could mean the end of the human race.”

    So are we really about to live in the world shown in the Terminator movies?

    “Not quite,” answered The Economist. After all, it’s not hard to get a computer program to remember and produce facts. What is hard is getting computers to use their knowledge in everyday situations.

    “We think that, for the human being, things like sight and balance（视觉平衡）, are natural and ordinary in our life.” Thomas Edison, founder of Motion Figures, a company that is bringing AI to boys, told the newspaper. “But for a robot, to walk up and down just like human beings requires various decisions to be made every second, and it’s really difficult to do.”

    As The Economist put it, “We have a long way to go before AI can truly begin to be similar to the human brain, even though the technology can be great.”

    Meanwhile, John Markoff of The New York Times said that researchers should build artificial intelligence to make people more effective.

    “Our fate is in our own hands,” he wrote. “Since technology depends on the values of its creators, we can make human choices that use technology to improve the world.”

    I’m one of the students in our class who has ever been to England. Last summer I was lucky enough to be sent there to study. As soon as I arrived on England by plane, I was picked up by the Smiths, which I would live with for the next two weeks. We felt like a fish out of water when I got there. The Smiths did what they could make me feel at home. I study at an international school, where I met friend from all over the world. I seized the opportunity to practise my speak English. Soon I made such a rapid progress that I received high praise from all the people around.
