            Most people know that Marie Curie was the first woman to win the Nobel Prize, and the first
    person to win it twice.However, few people know that she was also the mother of a Nobel Prize winner.
            Born in September, 1897, Irene Curie was the first of the Curies' two daughters.Along with nine
    other children whose parents were also famous scholars, Irene studied in their own school, and her mother was one of the teachers.She finished her high school education at the College of  in Paris.
            Irene entered the University of Paris in 1914 to prepare for a degree in mathematics and physics.
    When World War ? began, Irene went to help her mother, who was using Xray facilities (设备) to help
    save the lives of wounded soldiers.Irene continued the work by developing Xray facilities in military
    hospitals in France and Belgium.Her services were recognised in the form of a Military Medal by the
    French government.
            In 1918, Irene became her mother's assistant at the Curie Institute.In December 1924, Frederic
    Joliot joined the Institute, and Irene taught him the techniques required for his work.They soon fell in love
    and were married in 1926.Their daughter Helene was born in 1927 and their son Pierre five years later.
            Like her mother, Irene combined family and career.Like her mother, Irene was awarded a Nobel
    Prize, along with her husband, in 1935.Unfortunately, also like her mother, she developed leukemia
    because of her work with radioactivity (辐射能)．Irene JoliotCurie died from leukemia on March 17,
    1956.

         A month after I graduated from high school in 2004, I was coming home from swim practice and was
    involved in a car accident.I was so seriously injured that I was in a coma (昏迷) for over two months at
    Prince Georges Hospital.
          I died eight times during my coma and I couldn't talk or communicate when I woke up.Walking was

    It was a miracle (奇迹) that I  could walk again, but I wanted to prove that I could not  only walk, but

         I'm usually fairly skeptical about any research that concludes that people are either happier or
    unhappier or more or less certain of themselves than they were 50 years ago. While any of these
    statements might be true, they are practically impossible to prove scientifically. Still, I was struck by
    a report which concluded that today's children are significantly more anxious than children in the
    1950s. In fact, the analysis showed, normal children aged 9 to 17 exhibit a higher level of anxiety
    today than children who were treated for mental illness 50 years ago.
         Why are America's kids so stressed? The report cites two main causes: increasing physical
    isolation(隔离) brought on by high divorce rates and less involvement in community, among other
    things and a growing perception that the world is a more dangerous place.
          Considering that we_can't_turn_the_clock_back,_adults can still do plenty to help the next
    generation.
         At the top of the list is nurturing(培育) a better appreciation of the limits of individualism. No
    child is an island. Strengthening social ties helps build communities and protect individuals against
    stress.
          To help kids build stronger connections with others, you can pull the plug on TVs and computers.
    Your family will thank you later. They will have more time for facetoface relationships, and they will
    get more sleep.
         Limit the amount of virtual(虚拟的) violence your children are exposed to. It's not just video
    games and movies; children see a lot of murder and crime on the local news.
         Keep your expectations for your children reasonable. Many highly successful people never attended
    Harvard or Yale.
         Make exercise part of your daily routine. It will help you cope with your own anxieties and provide
