    20．Do you know what Fear and Faith have in common？Fear believes in a negative future．Faith believes in a positive future．Both believe in something that has not yet happened．So I ask you，if neither the positive nor negative future has happened yet then why not choose to believe in the positive future？
    I believe during these challenging times we have a choice between two roads：the positive road and the negative road．And （our bus can't be on two roads） at the same time．So we have to make a choice and this choice determines our belief about the future and the attitude and actions we bring to the present．
    I'm not saying we shouldn't have any fear．There are times when fear is a gift．A healthy dose（剂量） of fear causes us to examine our situation and plan for the future．It moves us to smell the cheese and expect change．When used wisely it allows us to manage risk and make better decisions．Some fear is good．
    However，what I have observed lately is a supersized，huge dose of fear that is spreading the hearts and minds of far too many people．This oversized fear is causing leaders and their organizations to either act unreasonably or to not act at all．They are either hurrying in a million different directions because of fear．In both cases，fear is leading them to take the negative road to failure．
    The answer is the positive road paved （铺满） with faith and a belief that your best days are not behind you but ahead of you．With this belief you make the right choices and actions today that will create your positive future tomorrow．You stay calm，focused and committed to your purpose．You look for ways to save money and cut costs without making unreasonable fear-based decisions that sacrifice your future success．You identify opportunities in the midst of the challenges and you focus on solutions instead of problems．
    Your faith and belief in a positive future leads to powerful actions today．The future has not happened yet and you have a say in what it looks like by the way you think and act．Fear or Faith．The choice is yours．

    The loss of handwriting also may be a cognitive （认知的）opportunity missed．Several academic studies have found that good handwriting skills at a young age can help children express their thoughts better-a lifelong benefit．
    It doesn't take much to teach better handwriting skills．At some schools in Prince George's County，elementary school students use a program called Handwriting Without Tears for 15minutes a day．They learn the correct formation of manuscript letters through second grade，and cursive letters in third grade．

    12．People are more likely to lie or cheat during the afternoon because self control reduces during the day，according to researchers．
       Volunteers taking part in two experiments where they could benefit by cheating were more likely to do so if the tests took place after midday，researchers found．
       The findings back up previous studies which have shown that our capacity for self-control declines during the day，due to tiredness and repeatedly making decisions．
        Psychologists from Harvard University first showed a group of volunteers various patterns of dots on a computer screen，asking them to decide whether there were more dots on the left or the right hand side．
    Instead of being rewarded for getting the answer right，the participants were paid based on which side they chose，earning ten times as much for choosing the right hand side as the left．
       People who were tested after midday were significantly more likely to select the right hand side，even if there were clearly more dots on the left，than those who took part during the morning．
       In a second test，participants were shown a series of word fragments，such as"-ral"and"e-c-"and asked which words they associated with them．
       In morning experiments，participants were more likely to form the words"moral"and"ethical"while during the afternoon the words"coral"and"effects"were most common．
       Further tests conducted online showed that people were more likely to send dishonest messages or claim to have solved an unsolvable problem in the afternoon than in the morning．
       Writing the Psychological Science journal，the researchers said the difference was particularly pronounced in people with higher ethical standards，who always behaved morally during the morning but slipped during the afternoon．
    In contrast，those who were able to"morally disengage"，or behave unethically without feeling guilty，tended to cheat whatever the time of day．
       Dr．Maryam Kouchaki，one of the lead authors，said："Unfortunately，the most honest people，such as those less likely to morally disengage，may be the most susceptible （易受影响的） to the negative consequences associated with the morning morality effect．"
