【题目】阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。

When I was a teenager, I got lost in a foreign country. I was in Berlin, Germany, only month-long trip in Europe. My team and I had one night there to spend however we pleased. Most of my teammates decided to stay indoors and relax. But I did not want to pass up the chance to explore Berlin.

I visited lots of major attractions around the city that night. When the exhaustion began to set in, I checked the time on my watch. I was surprised to see that it was two o’clock in the morning.

As I walked to a subway station, I realized that it was my dad’s birthday. This would be the first birthday I couldn’t celebrate with him because he died a few months earlier. Before I could begin thinking of my dad, I heard train wheels stop.

I rushed onto the train. At first, I was thankful to have made it onto the train. But that joy quickly turned to panic when I noticed that the train was heading in the wrong direction!

I looked around the nearly empty train. I saw a young woman sitting quietly by the window and approached her.

“Hi, do you speak English? I’m lost. Can you help me?” I asked.

The woman understood. She told me how to return to where I had first gotten on the train. But my anxious mind couldn’t follow her guidance.

Without thinking, I asked, “Can you come with me?”

Her face froze at my stupid request. After a long second of hesitation, she agreed to help me. At that moment, I was grateful for the kindness from a stranger.

【题目】 Something strange was happening inside LeeAnne’s home. During the summer of 201414-year-old J.D. had stomach severe pains, but his CT scan found nothing wrong. LeeAnne and her husband lost hair and suffered dizziness and headaches. LeeAnne even lost her eyelashes.

In January 2015, the city of Flint sent out a notice that the water supply, switched from the Detroit water system to the Flint River to cut cost, contained high levels of trihalomethanes (三卤甲烷). The notice warned that people with poor immune (免疫的) systems might be at increased risk for liver, kidney, and nervous system problems but emphasized that the water was otherwise safe to drink.

Alarmed, LeeAnne researched the water supply and searched the Internet. Then she distributed a fact sheet to city officials, listing the side effects of exposure to trihalomethanes. Then she urged her neighbors to attend city council meetings, where they shared their health problems. Still, officials insisted the water was safe to drink. So LeeAnne demanded that the city test her water.

The results were disturbing. The trihalomethanes were the least of her problems. The lead levels in her water were nearly seven times the legal amount. But the city maintained her plumbing (管道) was the cause.

LeeAnne immediately had her children tested for lead. All the kids showed lead exposure. She read Flint’s water quality reports and discovered the city wasn’t applying the proper corrosion (腐蚀) control standards to its pipes; the standards prevent the metal in pipes from leaching into the water.

In March, a follow-up test of LeeAnne’s water showed lead levels nearly 27 times higher than the EPA’s threshold. LeeAnne’s pipes could not be responsible for the high lead levels, since they were plastic.

In September, Virginia Tech lab released a report that concluded the Flint River water was 19 times more corrosive than the Detroit water.

The governor eventually admitted the water was unsafe. He ordered that Flint’s water supply be switched back to Detroit’s. In Washington, President Barack Obama declared a state of emergency in Flint and ordered federal aid to help the city recover.

1How did LeeAnne react to the city notice?

A.She had her children tested for lead.

B.She asked the city to replace her pipes.

C.She urged the officials to test Flint’s water.

D.She collected side effects of trihalomethanes.

2What is the leading cause of the family’s health problem?

A.The lead in their water.

B.Corrosion to their pipes.

C.Their poor immune systems.

D.Exposure to Trihalomethanes.

3City officials’ attitude toward the water issue was _____.

A.unconcernedB.cautious

C.doubtfulD.objective

4What does the story mainly tell us?

A.Revealing the truth takes time.

B.Nothing can stop a determined heart.

C.It takes courage to challenge authority.

D.Joint effort is the key to solving problems.

【题目】 It has been a year since 1 first saw UBTech's Walker robot at CES 2019. I was blown away by its ability to perform many tasks.

A year later, it had come a long way, gaining much better motor skills and the ability to maintain balance. During a CES 2020 demo(演示), UBTech showed how far Walker had come. The robot walked over to a table, picked up a bottle opener and used it to remove the cap from a bottle of soda. It picked up the bottle and a glass and poured the liquid in, without spilling.During the demo, Walker also performed a number of serious Yoga( 瑜伽) poses, including standing on one foot and leaning back.

UBTech said that the ability to pour drinks required visual servo( 伺服系统) technology using its cameras to judge the position of objects. The same methods allowed Walker to uncap a marker and draw a picture of a flower on a piece of paper at another point in the demo.

All of the betterment was made via software as UBTech hasn't made any physical adjustments t0o the robot since we saw it last year. On the inside, the robot uses a combination of a few different operating systems on these internal PCs, including Ubuntu, ROS and Android. Its battery promises up to 2 hours battery life after a 2-hour charge time,

UBTech continues development on this pioneering robot, but doesn't have public launch date. The company is targeting Walker toward the home, with an emphasis on helping seniors or. just doing house cleaning. To make it stable enough to adapt to all these different conditions is a huge challenge. However, if development of Walker continues, this robot could eventually be a game-changer.

1How did the author feel when first seeing the robot?

A.Amazed.B.Proud.

C.Awkward.D.Disappointed.

2What is Paragraph 2 mainly about?

A.The demos of CES 2019.B.The improvements of the robot.

C.The robot's motor ability.D.The robot's ability to remain steady.

3What enables the robot to draw pictures?

A.The cap of the marker.B.The ability to pour drinks.

C.The using of more cameras.D.The system of position judging.

4What can we infer from the last paragraph?

A.The robot is stable enough to help the old.

B.The robot has been available to the public.

C.Our life could be greatly influenced by the robot.

D.The basic concept of robot making will be changed.
