根据题干关键词probably led to the start of advertising定位在第一段最后一句:That led to the concept of specialization, which means that people would specialize, or focus, on doing one specific job. B.The specialization of labor.
根据题干关键词Mr.Plowright和To advertise his plows定位在第四段:First he opened a shop and then he put up a sign outside the shop to attract customers. That sign may have been no more than a plow carved into a piece of wood and a simple arrow pointing to the shop door.所以B.placed a sign outside the shop正确。 |

A.explain the origin of advertising正确。 |

His job was, in other words, not too different from a TV or radio commercial in today's world. D.functioned like today's TV or radio commercial正确。 |

You might say that the first medium used in advertising was signs with symbols. The second medium was audio,和最后两段的关键词Originally和this earliest form of advertising involved…. C.the early forms of advertising为正确答案。 [难句学习] 1.It is possible that it grew out of the discovery that some people did certain kinds of work better than others did them. 分析:本句的主干是It is possible that…是由that引导的主语从句,第二个that some people did certain kinds of work better than others did them. 2.That led to the concept of specialization, which means that people would specialize, or focus, on doing one specific job. That led to the concept of specialization,逗号后面是which 引导的非限制性定语从句,定语从句又套了宾语从句that people would specialize, or focus, on doing one specific job。 3.Using what he knew about farming and working with iron, Mr.Plowright invented a plow that made farming easier. 主句主语Mr.Plowright和Use之间是主动关系,故用现在分词,Using在这里表示方式状语,后面的what he knew about farming and working with iron是宾语从句,主句后面that made farming easier. 4.The second medium was audio, or sound, although that term is not used exactly in the way we use it today. The second medium was audio…。although引导让步状语从句,状语从句里又套了一个省略that的定语从句we use it today,来修饰the way。 5.His job was, in other words, not too different from a TV or radio commercial in today's world. His job was not too different from…

Animals seem to have the sense to eat when they are hungry and they do not eat more than their bodies need. It has been demonstrated (证实) that rats will, when given a choice over a period of time, prefer water with vitamins (维生素) to water without vitamins, even though there is no difference in taste or smell between the two water bottles. When a fragrant flavor (香味) was added to the vitamin—enriched liquid, the rats did seem to develop a taste for it and kept drinking it, even after the vitamins were switched (转) to the clear water. In time, however, they broke the habit and went back to where the necessary vitamins were.
In an experiment, babies of 6 to 12 months old were placed in a cafeteria (自助食堂) with a wide selection of baby food before them. They were given whatever food they pointed to or appeared interested in. We are told that at first they showed some unusual eating patterns, but over a period of time they managed to select a well balanced diet (饮食).
So, in selecting food, rats and babies do seem to know and act on what's best for them. Clearly, there is a kind of "body wisdom" which humans soon lose. Most of us do not eat as wisely as we could. Many of our food preferences are culturally determined and influenced (影 响) by long-established habits. Some people eat fox, dog and blackbirds, while we eat cows and pigs. So what people eat and how much they eat seems to be greatly influenced by what is going on around them.
