【小题1】  That' s happening in those areas of business and data processing where one person and a computer can replace a team of workers.

Why Exercise Is Cool?
1. Exercise Strengthens Muscles
Did you ever do a push-up or swing across the monkey bars at the playground?    【小题1】   By using your muscles to do powerful things, you can make them stronger. For older teens and adults, this kind of workout can make muscles bigger, too.
2.    【小题2】
Can you touch your toes easily without yelling ouch? Most kids are pretty flexible, which means that they can bend and stretch their bodies without much trouble. Being flexible is having “full range of motion,” which means you can move your arms and legs freely without feeling tightness or pain.
3. Exercise Keeps the Balance
【小题3】  Your body needs a certain amount of calories every day just to function, breathe, walk around, and do all the basic stuff.    【小题4】   If you’re not very active, your body won’t need as many calories.
Whatever your calorie need is, if you eat enough to meet that need, your body weight will stay about the same. If you eat more calories than your body needs, it may be stored as extra fat.
4. Exercise Makes You Feel Good
It feels good to have a strong, flexible body that can do all the activities you enjoy—like running, jumping, and playing with your friends. It’s also fun to be good at something, like scoring a basket, hitting a home run, or perfecting a dive.
But you may not know that exercising can actually put you in a better mood.    【小题5】   It’s just another reason why exercise is cool!

A.So you want to do some aerobic (有氧的) exercise right now?
B.Food gives your body fuel in the form of calories, which are a kind of energy.
C.When you exercise, your brain releases a chemical, which may make you feel happier.
D.Those are exercises that can build strength.
E. Exercise Makes You Flexible
F. Exercise Makes Your Heart Happy
G. But if you’re active, your body needs an extra measure of calories or energy.

【小题1】    If you use it often and in the right ways, you will become a more skilled thinker and your ability to focus will increase. But if you never use your brain, or abuse it with harmful chemicals, your ability to think and learn will decrease. Here are some simple ways that may help you.
   【小题2】
Don’t you feel drained(劳累) after a couple of hours of watching TV? Your eyes are sore and tired of being focused on the light box for so long. When you feel like relaxing, try reading a book instead. If you’re too tired, listen to some music. When you’re with your friends or family, leave the tube off and have a conversation. All of these things use your mind more than television and allow you to relax.
Exercise.
I used to think that I’d learn more by not exercising and using the time to read a book instead.     【小题3】    It improves productivity(生产力) during the time afterwards. Using your body clears your head and creates a wave of energy. Afterwards, you can concentrate(专注) more easily.
Read challenging books.
If you want to improve your thinking and writing ability, you should read books that make you focus. Reading a classic novel can change your view of the world and will make you think in more elegant English.    【小题4】    Re-read it when necessary, and you’ll soon grow accustomed(习惯) to the author’s style.
Early to bed, early to rise.
【小题5】    You’ll be the most energetic if you go to bed early and don’t sleep for more than 8 hours. In my experience the early morning hours are the most productive. If you have the opportunity, take a 10-20 minute nap(小憩) when you are hit with a wave of drowsiness(睡意).

A.Take a time to reflect.
B.Reduce television watching.
C.Spending some time alone will be helpful.
D.Your brain needs exercise just like a muscle (肌肉).
E. Don’t be afraid to look up a word if you don’t know it.
F. Nothing makes it harder to concentrate than sleep loss.
G. But I realized that time spent exercising always leads to greater learning.

Directions: Read the following text and choose the most suitable heading from A-F for each paragraph. There is one extra heading which you do not need.

A. Tricks of dishonest advertisers
B. Types of advertisement readers
C. Customers’ opinions on advertisers
D. Functions of advertising
AB. Interactions between the advertisers and the customers
AC. Benefits one may get from reading honest advertisements.
【小题1】
When you see a clever advertisement in a newspaper, do you say to yourself, “Ah, that’s good. I’d like to have one of these”? Or do you say, “What lies are they telling this time? It can’t be very good or they wouldn’t have to advertise it so cleverly”? Both of these people exist: the fist are optimists; the second pessimists and realists.
【小题2】
Advertisements can be extremely useful if they are honest: if, let us say, you have broken you pen and you want to buy another, the first thing to do is to look at as many advertisements for pens as you can find. That will help you to choose the model, color and price that suits you. Advertisements save a lot of time and trouble in a quick and simple way. If the advertisements are true and accurate, the customers will be satisfied and will probably buy from the same firm nest time and advise their friends and acquaintances to do the same.
【小题3】
Some advertisers hope to sell his goods quickly and to make a large profit on them. They know that no customers will buy from them a second time or recommend the products to their friends. Other advertisers make claims for their products which they know perfectly well to be incapable of verification, like advertising that a certain toothpaste contains a particular substance knowing that this substance is in fact neither beneficial or harmful to the teeth. Such advertisements do not tell downright lies, but their advertising is deliberately misleading.
【小题4】
If there was no advertising, fewer goods would be sold, so the cost of each article would be higher. The more you advertise, the more cheaply you can afford to sell your products. Advertising also encourages makers to improve their goods continually. One manufacturer of soap-power claims that his products does not harm housewives’ hands, and quotes the opinions of prominent doctors to prove this. All other soap-powder manufacturers are forced to make their products harmless too.
【小题5】
As advertisers become more and more expert at their work, they appeal to all the human emotions in the effort to increase sales: love of a bargain, fear of ill health, the desire to show off and many others. But more and more customers are also becoming suspicious of and resistant to high-powered advertising. This is producing a deliberately modest advertisement that is intended to disarm the customers’ suspicions by giving an impression of absolute sincerity, or even of deliberate understatement.

Dear Jeremy and Alice,
Although we've been delighted to have you as neighbors, we're hoping to settle something that bothers to us. In a word, your dog—Cleo.
We've called several time about Cleo's early morning barking. It is difficult to understanding why she barks every minute she's outside. The early morning barking have been disturbing us as we are often up all night with the baby. Beside, Cleo tends to bark a average of six hours a day. This morning she starts barking even before 5 o'clock. That is too much for us, considering how closely the houses are.
We appreciate our apologies and goodwill, but we hope that you can figure a good way of settling the matter.
Sincerely,
Jack and Rose
