        My cousin Tim is pupil．He is clever，and he is very naughty．
    Today he fails in his math and English exam．Getting his report，
    he was deep worried．His poor report was required to be signed by his father

    was reading a newspaper before he got home．Tim said to his father jokingly，

    8．before改为when；考查状语从句，这里用when引导时间状语从句，意为"当他到家的时候"．
    9．all改为both；考查all和both的区别，both指两者都…，all指三者或三者以上，这里是指两只眼睛，所以用both．
    10．去掉not；考查句式；根据语境这里应该是肯定句，所以去掉not．

    点评 短文改错首先要通读全文，整体理解短文的中心思想，然后根据短文讲述的事情确定文章的基本时态，再运用基础语言知识从时态，语态，句式结构，固定短语等方面彻底进行分析，以便尽快找出短文的错误所在并加以修改．

    The saying that practice makes perfect mean that after you have plenty of practice in what you were doing，you will be perfect in it．If you want improve your study and work，remembering that the most important thing is how to put the knowledge you have learned into practice．For example，when learning a language，though you can make full use for your talent，practice is necessary．If you only learn grammar rules by the heart and don't do enough exercise，it's certain that you can't understand the language perfectly．But if you real practise a lot，maybe you will understand them much better．In this way，you can apply that you have learned better．

    Long-distance running is not for the casual jogger．It is a sport that requires strength and endurance and a great deal of training．Most high school students have trouble running 1000meters without huffing and puffing （气喘吁吁）．Five thousand meters，for them，is just a race too far．But by cancelling the race，high schools are sending mixed signals about fitness to their students：get fit，but don't sweat．
