The May Day is coming. Our class has a discussion about what to do during the holiday.______
¡¾´ð°¸¡¿
Some are in favor of staying at home. They think it¡¯s both convenient and comfortable. What¡¯s more, they can save money for other purposes. But they will lose the chance of getting to know the outside world. However, others prefer to go out for traveling since it can increase their knowledge and broaden their horizons. But they will spend more money and meet some difficulties while traveling.
In my opinion, it would be much better to stay at home, for I can do what I like, such as reading books, watching TV, and helping my parents with the housework.

British families started going on holiday to the seaside around the middle of the 19th century. The __¡¾1¡¿ (invent) of the railways made this possible. The first holiday makers ¡¾2¡¿ (be) quite rich and went for their health and education. The seaside was a place to cure people of illness. And doctors recommended bathing in the sea and drinking sea water. At that time ordinary working people had very little time off work. ¡¾3¡¿ , in 1871 the government introduced four ¡°Bank Holidays¡±, that is national holidays. This allowed people ¡¾4¡¿ (have) a day or two out now and then, ¡¾5¡¿ gave them a taste for leisure and seaside. At first, they went on a day trip, taking advantage ¡¾6¡¿ special trip tickets on the railways. By the 1880s, ¡¾7¡¿ (rise) incomes meant that many ordinary workers and their families could have holiday at the seaside. Welfare was reduced and cheap hotels ¡¾8¡¿ (build) for them. Holiday makers enjoy ¡¾9¡¿ (sit) on the beach, bathing in the sea and eating ice cream. Cheap entertainment was on offer and holiday makers went to have fun. Today ¡¾10¡¿ English seaside remains popular with more than 18 million holidays taken there each year.

I found one time that helping someone could get you into a lot of trouble.
I was in the ¡¾1¡¿ (nine) grade at the time, and we were having a final test. During the test, the girl ¡¾2¡¿ (sit) next to me whispered something, but I didn¡¯t understand. Finally I found that she was trying to ask me ¡¾3¡¿ I had an extra pen. She showed me that ¡¾4¡¿ (her) was out of ink and would not write. I happened to have an extra one, so I put it on her desk.
Later, after the test papers had been turned in, the teacher ¡¾5¡¿ (ask) me to stay in the room when all the other students were dismissed. As soon as we were alone she began to talk to me about how important it was ¡¾6¡¿ (stand) on your own two ¡¾7¡¿ (foot) and be responsible for your own acts. For a long time, she talked about honesty and emphasized the fact ¡¾8¡¿ when people do something dishonest, they are really cheating themselves. She made me promise that I would think ¡¾9¡¿ (serious) about all the things she had said, and then she told me I could leave. I walked out of the room wondering why she had chosen to talk to me ¡¾10¡¿ all those things.
Later on, I found out that she thought I had cheated on the test.

Being responsible is actually not that difficult. I used think that it was hard to grow up into a responsible person. An incident happening in a rainy Sunday afternoon changed my attitude. I was on my way to the bookstore and was waiting for the green light when a girl was knocked down by a passing car, that drove off quickly. A man immediately gave her first aid and I had joined in it without hesitation. Soon many more help was given to the girl. Because we sent her to the nearest hospitals in time, she was able to receive properly treatment. Not badly injured, I expressed her gratitude to those giving help. Compared with the escaping driver, I was proud of what I did.

Hi Lana,
I am 61 years old and I am from New Zealand. I start teaching in China last February.
I decided that I reached 60 years I would like to do something different. I was lucky to have got a degree in English, that helped me find a job as a teacher in China. Now I work with two Canadian teacher. One, 57, has been here for four years, and the other, 63, have been teaching here for 6 years. He married with a lovely Chinese lady. The Chinese people are hard-working but the students are so willing to learn.
How an interesting country to live in!
I feel safer here than anywhere I lived. I have found her tips on teaching so usefully.
Thank you!
Dave

There are a lot of famous women of¡¾1¡¿£¨achieve£©in the world. They all do¡¾2¡¿( good ) in their work, such as Lin Qiaozhi, Jane Goodall and Song Qingling. There is no doubt¡¾3¡¿they are real heroines and¡¾4¡¿( worth ) of being praised. But in my opinion, all healthy humans have the ability to do that. It just depends on¡¾5¡¿you have the determination to do it and whether the situation is in your favor. But never before have I admired a person so much¡¾6¡¿Helen Keller, who I just read about. My brother used to ask me question whenever he did his homework, that made me annoyed. But every time he accepted my explanations I feel that I was the smartest person in the world. Answered his questions, I always liked to say that he was so stupid to solve such simple problems.
Last week both of them got the report cards from our school. Unexpectedly, I got a lot of Bs, though he got As. To make things worse, all that day my brother screamed how foolish it was for me not to ask questions! I could say nothing but admit that he was right. I have never made a fun of him since then.
