12.Does this situation seem familiar to you?Your English is progressing well.The grammar is now familiar.The reading comprehension is no problem.You are communicating quite fluently.(36)GFirst of all,remember that you are not alone.Listening comprehension is probably the most difficult task for almost all learners of English as a foreign language.So,the most important thing is to listen as often as possible.(37)E
The Internet is really a useful tool for English students.You can download The RealPlayer from RealMedia.com,which allows you to use the Internet like a radio station.
Once you have begun to listen on a regular basis,you might still be frustrated by limited understanding.(38)BHere is some of the advice I give my students:
Accept the fact that you are not going to understand everything.
Keep cool when you do not understand---even if you continue not to understand for a long time.(39)F
Don't concentrate on details until you have understood the main idea.(40)CThis approach usually results in confusion.Translating leads to a kind of block in one's brain which sometimes doesn't allow us to understand anything at all!
By remaining calm, allowing yourself not to understand, and not to translate while listening, your brain is free to concentrate on the most important thing:understanding English in English.

A.Secondly,most people repeat themselves constantly.
B.What should you do?
C.Do not translate everything into your native language.
D.This situation leads to less--not more--understanding.
E.The next step is to find listening resources.
F.Listen for the general idea of the conversation.
G.But listening is STILL a problem.

Listening comprehension is probably the most difficult task for almost all learners of English as a foreign language唯独听力上有问题,因为听力可能是最难的部分,故选G.
So,the most important thing is to listen as often as possible可知,这是给出的第一条建议,紧接着应该说第二条,即选项里的The next step…
Here is some of the advice I give my students:下面是另外一些给出的建议,可知即使有了前文的建议,如果你还不知道如何做的话,就看下面的建议,故选B.
Accept the fact that you are not going to understand everything这句告诉我们不需要听全部,即建议我们只要抓住大意即可,故选F.
This approach usually results in confusion.Translating leads to a kind of block

2.Students from Florida International University in Miami walked on water Thursday for a class assignment.To do it,they wore aquatic (水上的)shoes they designed and created.
Alex Quinones was the first to make it to the other side of a 175-foot lake on campus in record time-just over a minute.Quinones, who wore oversized boat-like shoes, also won last year and will receive  500.Students had to wear the aquatic shoes and make it across the lake in order to earn an"6A"on the assignment for Architecture Professor Jaime Canaves,Materials and Methods Construction Class."It's traditional in a school of architecture to do boats out of cardboard for a boat race.I thought our students were a little bit more special than that,"Canaves said."We decided to do the walk on water event to take it to the next level."
