After all, you can buy African food in Norway, or watch a French movie in China.
But in spite of this, countries still have the power 【3】 (shock) people who visit them for the first time. For many of us, there are still real differences 【4】 the culture and habits between nations.
Most often, however, it’s eating habits 【5】 are different between cultures. The Daily Mail article mentioned the shock of an Indian man, Kaushal Braot. When visiting a Western country, he noticed people socializing in restaurants, often spending hours in them with friends. Kaushal was surprised 【6】 in India, restaurants are for one thing only: eating.
The cultural differences people noticed can seem positive, negative, or 【7】 (simple) just strange. But rather than something to be feared, these differences should be welcomed. Indeed, if the whole world 【8】 (be) like one big country, it would be a much 【9】 (dull) place. So let’s be proud of our own culture, and at the same time, open to the cultures of 【10】 (other).
【1】it
【2】seems
【3】to shock
【4】in
【5】that

【8】were
【9】duller
【10】others
分析句子,句中it is often said that符合形式主语的结构it + be + done+ that , it 为形式主语。 故填it。
【2】
故填to shocked。
【4】
故填in。
【5】
此处去掉it + be 和that后剩余部分为eating habits are different between different culture此处句法完整。 故填that。
【6】
故填because。
【7】
故填were。
【9】

We all want to be successful in our work. But what happens when our achievements come at the risk of losing important friendships? If your friends didn't receive what they were hoping for, your success could make them feel like they've been “left in the dust”. But does that mean that we shouldn't enjoy our achievements in case we displease someone or that we should feel sorry for being successful when others aren't?
Those of us who value friendships and close working relationships might feel embarrassed for achieving more than our friends. But we deserve our success, and nothing should take it away. Jealousy is only natural, but It’s often unreasonable, too. Your success is probably not connected with your friends' progress, so you shouldn't feel bad about achieving your goals. If your friends stay unfriendly, don’t be afraid to keep yourself away from them. You are not responsible for their weaknesses, and nor should they treat you sharply for furthering your work.
On the other hand, your friends may think highly of your recent success while hiding their real feelings. They could be jealous, angry or sad that they are not progressing at the same rate. So, be careful not to boast. It's a thin line between pride and self-importance, and by crossing the line, you may risk losing team support.
Next time you want to boast about your end-of-year win, or high-class new office, consider your listeners. Maybe your friends narrowly missed out on a position-raising, or experienced pay cuts which meant they didn't get what they were expecting. If your work is on a rising path, it doesn't mean that's the case for everyone.
Perhaps a step forward in your work has meant that you don't spend as much time with your friends as you used to. If you've changed a post or moved to a new office, take the time to stay in touch with old friends. Chances are that in the build-up to your success you've built strong relationships along the way. Don't let that hard work go to waste by losing touch with them.
【1】From the first two paragraphs, it can be inferred that ________.
A.we should enjoy our deserving success
B.our success will certainly hurt our friends

A.Show up.B.Stand out.
C.Talk big.D.Keep silent.

Kang Heng, 16, hasn’t been sleeping well in a tent the past couple of nights. Closing his eyes only brings repeated terror from all that happened and, worse still, all that could have happened at around 2:30 pm last Monday.
The student in Dongcheng High School in Mianyang, Sichuan Province was on his way to class after an afternoon nap(小睡) when the big earthquake hit the area.
“It’s a complete shock! As soon as I heard someone screaming Earthquake! I saw our classroom building being torn apart just in front of my eyes. The next second I saw a student jumping out of the window from the second floor,” Tang recalled.
As the electricity was cut off, his teachers shouted as loud as they could to gather all the students in the school onto the playground. Although some were wounded by falling objects or injured while running out, they at least escaped death.
Thousands of people, young and old, were buried in ruins, mostly in the small cities and counties, such as Wenchuan, Beichuan, Dujiangyan, Anxian and Qingchuan, which are surrounded(包围) by hills and mountains.
By last Friday, around 19,000 people died because of the earthquake, which is the worst in China in 30 years. And the number is still rising.
More than 100,000 troops have continued to arrive at destroyed areas since the day after the quake hit. And more neighboring people were doing all they can to offer help.
Kang and his parents were among them. They drove in rain to Anxian County, an hour drive away from Mianyang, with water, instant noodles and plastic for building tents. Kang’s family finally found his terrified grandparents in Anxian on Wednesday morning.
