High school graduates planning to study in certain countries will have to do well in the National College Entrance Examination(NCEE), because certain foreign universities are considering NCEE results, according to overseas education consultants(顾问).

“The continuous reform of NCEE has made it a quite reasonable way ________, so it has begun to gain more international recognition,” said a CCTV senior education journalist, Chen Xiaomei.
Official figures showed that, among the 815 000 students that went overseas by the end of(2004, 2823 went to Australian universities, 1013 to Canadian institutions, 700 to Singapore and 442 to Germany.
Chen said having a high NCEE score was important for students who wanted to go to the top five Canadian universities including the University of British Columbia, the University of Toronto and McGill University.
The University of Toronto required applicants to earn a NCEE score higher than 600, a level qualified for a Chinese regular university program. The two leading Singaporean universities, the National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technology University, even required Chinese high school graduates to get a NCEE score 20 points higher than the bottom mark of China’s regular university requirement.

“Should there be separate classes for boys and girls? It might be a wise idea, because it is difficult to satisfy all tastes,”researchers at Leeds University in the UK last week said.
According to their report, in Britain, boys want science lessons to be about weapons of mass destruction and the effects of chemical weapons, while girls prefer to learn how to keep fit or the meanings of their dreams.
The study among 15-year-olds aimed to discover how science might be made more popular. The researchers, who contracted 1,200 English students, say“most did not like science as much as other subjects.”
The difference in results has curriculum(课程)planners considering separate classes for each sex.“The responses show a strong interest among boys in destructive technologies,”say the researchers.“while girls, by contrast, ________ their own bodies. They want to know how to deal with eating disorders, and they are interested in how to beat cancer and how to keep fit.”The differences make teaching a mixed-gender class a very difficult job.
There was, though, agreement on what boys and girl least want to learn. Both sexes were bored by the thought of studying the benefits and possible dangers of modern farming methods.Neither did they want to study“famous scientists and their lives”.

According to Mark Baldwin of Alliance many job applicants in China are finding this type of questions difficult. When a Chinese person fills out an aptitude test he or she will think there is a right answer and they may well fail because they try to guess what the examiner wants to see.
This is sometimes called the prisoner's dilemma(窘境).Applicants are trying to act cleverly in their own interest. But they fail because they don't understand what the interviewer is looking for.Remember that in an aptitude test, the correct answer is always the honest answer.
