活  动	携带酒食果品，及纸钱物品等在祖先墓前焚烧； 为坟墓培上新土，插嫩绿新枝，叩头行礼； 也是人们春游踏青，欣赏大自然湖光山色的时候； 还会开展各种文娱活动，增加生活情趣。

Dear Tom,

How are you doing? Here I am in my dormitory, having had supper and having little to do. So I’d like to tell you about a traditional festival in China, Tomb-sweeping Day, just to help kill the time.

Tomb-sweeping Day of China, which falls on April 5th, has a history of several thousand years. From this day on, the temperature begins to climb, so this is a good time for spring ploughing.

On this day, people come to the tombs of their ancestors, carrying food and fruit to offer and also burn paper money and other articles which they think can be used by their loved ones in the other world. They decorate the tombs with new earth and fresh tree branches and kowtow before the tombs. Some people go for spring outings to enjoy the beautiful mountains and rivers; others hold various entertainment activities to make life more colorful.

To the Chinese, Tomb-sweeping Day not only focuses on family reunion and food offering, but also purifies their feelings and helps form a sense of family, a sense of belonging. More importantly, through the activities, they obtain more strength to face the future and pursue happiness.
