Be more popular, get better grades, have more pocket money...A teenager's life seems far from trouble-free.However, American author Daniel Gottlieb disagrees.

In his book, Learning From the Heart:Lessons on Living, Loving and Listening, Gottlieb says that people should listen to the voices of others and to their own hearts and learn to feel comfortable with who they are.

In most people's eyes, Gottlieb, 60, might be uncomfortable with himself. He became paralyzed(瘫痪)due to an accident that happened when he was 30.He went through a terrible divorce(离婚)and his second wife got cancer. He had to try hard to communicate with his autistic(患有自闭症的)grandchild.

Yet in his book, Gottlieb manages to see the silver lining to every cloud. He writes that being paralyzed brings him great parking spaces. He doesn't need to spend money on shoes.More importantly, he learns that what he really wants is to stop wanting to become or to have something that he simply cannot be or have.

"Because of my dilferentness, I have not been intimidated(胁迫)by my need to be like everyone rise," he writes."I might not have become the man I am today were-it not for this trauma(伤害)."

Perhaps, the best side of being paralyzed for Gottlieb is that he becomes an outsider among people?"like a foreign reporter", as he puts it.He acutely(敏锐的)observes the way people act, think and live, and puts his observations into the pages of Learning From the Hears. Its Chinese version will be released in January next year.

Publishers Weekly says that the message of the book contains "the unmistakable ring of truth to it; love rather than change yourself or anyone else".

"Trying to change others is about intolerance(不够宽容)," the magazine says, "which is.at the core(核心问题)? of so much enmity(敌对).We can't find peace unless we are trying to help others find peace also."

As parents, we like to make sure that our children are eating well and getting all the nutrients(营养)they need. Children need two to three kinds of vegetables every day.

A simple way to get our children to eat vegetables is by eating them ourselves. Following our example, they may start eating vegetables themselves. Don't say things like, "If you eat your vegetables, you can have dessert. "These methods work for a little while but can possibly lead them to hate vegetables more. Give your children new varieties of foods which will help them develop a taste for trying new things.

Sometimes the simple things just don't work. We have to start becoming a little creative to make our children eat vegetables. By doing this in the beginning when children are small, we will help them learn to love vegetables.

Think of creative ways to make children eat vegetables. For example, cut up vegetables like carrots, cucumbers and place them in a creative way on a plate for an afternoon snack(零食). Or try using cheese sauce either by dipping(蘸) the vegetables in it or by putting the cheese right on top of cooked or raw vegetables.

If you prefer, you can also add a teaspoon (茶匙)of sugar on top of cooked green beans and peas to make them taste a little sweeter. Doing this shouldn't lead to a sweet tooth as long as you only give them a small amount.

If you have children that refuse to eat vegetables, some of these suggestions I've listed will help to turn that around. In the end, you're not only just getting them to eat vegetables, you're also helping them to live a healthier lifestyle.

65. According to the passage, all the following ways to get children to eat vegetables are creative EXCEPT________

A. preparing carrots in an attractive way

B. adding some cheese sauce to vegetables

C. putting cheese on top of vegetables

D. making vegetables very sweet

66. Which of the following is NOT true according to the passage?

A. Children need to eat vegetables every day for their health.

B. It is necessary to think of creative ways to make children eat vegetables.

C. Sugar can make children keep a healthy diet.

D. Parents should help children live a healthy lifestyle.

67. If you want your children lo develop the habit of eating vegetables, you should_____.

A. set an example to them

B. be very patient with them

C. give dessert to them as an award

D. cut vegetables into different shapes to meet their tastes

68. The best title for the passage would probably be_______.

A. Vegetables are very important to children's health

B. More and more children like eating vegetables

C. How to make children eat more vegetables

D. There are many kinds of vegetables for children

Easter(复活节) is still a great day for worship, randy in baskets and running around the yard finding eggs, but every year it gets quite a bit worse for bunnies.
And no, not because the kids like to pull their ears. The culprit is climate change, and some researchers found that rising temperatures arc having harmful effects on at least five species of rabbit in the US.
Take the Lower Keys March rabbit, for instance. An endangered species that lives in the Lower Florida Keys, this species of cottontail is a great swimmer — it lives on the islands! — but it is already severely affected by development and now by rising levels. According to the Center for Biological Diversity, an ocean level rise of only 0. 6 meters will send these guys jumping to higher ground and a 0.9-meter rise would wipe out their habitat (栖息地) completely.
The snowshoe hare, on the other hand, has a color issue. Most of these rabbits change their fur color from white in the wintertime to brown in the summer, each designed to give them better cover from predators(捕食者).  As the number of days with snow decreases all across the country, however, more and more bunnies arc being left in white fur during brown dirt days of both fall and spring, making them an easier mark for predators. Researchers know that the color change is controlled by the number of hours of sunlight, but whether the rabbit will be able to adapt quick enough to survive is a big question. The National Wildlife Federation has reported that hunters have noticed their numbers are already markedly down.
American pikas or rock rabbits, a relative of rabbits and hares, might be the firs' of these species to go extinct due to climate change. About 7-8 inches long, pikas live high in the cool, damp mountains west of the Rocky Mountains. As global temperatures rise, they would naturally migrate (迁徙) to higher ground — but they already occupy the mountaintops. They can't go any higher. The National Wildlife Federation reports that they might not be able to stand the new temperatures as their habitat beats up.
The volcano rabbit has the same problem. These rabbits live on the slopes of volcanoes in Mexico, and recent studies have shown that the lower range of their habitat has already shifted upward about 700 meters, but there are not suitable plants for them to move higher, so they are stuck in the middle. Scientists are concerned about their populations.
Native to the US, pygmy rabbits weigh less than 1 pound and live in the American West. They are believed to be the smallest rabbits in the world. Their habitats have been destroyed by development. Several populations, such as the Columbia Basin pygmy, almost went extinct and were saved by zoo breeding programs. Pygmy rabbits also rely on winter cover by digging tunnels through the snow to escape predators, but lesser snowfall is leaving them exposed.
All of this gives new meaning to dressing up in a giant bunny costume this Easter.

Umbrella is a “difficult” novel. But if you enjoy challenges, just read on because Umbrella, as a Booker Prize winner, is one you can’t miss.

The story itself is not difficult to follow. It concerns a woman named Audrey, a Lo  ndoner who grows up during World War I, works in a military factory, and then survives an epidemic (传染病)spreading through Europe between 1915 and 1926. She is admitted to a mental hospital in 1922, and remains there, mind out of time, until 1971, when a doctor named Zach Busner awakens the sleeping beauty with a special drug. And decades later-on April 8,2010, to be exact — Busner

thinks back on all this as he visits his old hospital.

The story also involves painful facts of how the mentally ill were

mistreated, and the careers of Audrey’s two brothers, one of whom

becomes a soldier in the Great War. Fans of World War I will not want

to miss the vivid descriptions of battlefields.

What makes Will Self’s novel challenging is how he tells his story.

Is opens in the spring of 1971 but thereafter time travels back and

forth between Audrey’s Edwardian childhood and 2010, jumping

mid-sentence from one era to another with no reminders to guide the reader. It is a new style many many modernists adopted, who thought that the old ways were not enough to show the great changes at the beginning of the 20th century.

This story isn’t new: Oliver Sacks dealt with the same sleeping sickness and its treatment in Awakenings. What’s appealing about Umbrella is that Self combines from with content perfectly, using modernist techniques. The readers may feel confused about the switch of time, it’s Self’s wild style that offers other delights – richly detailed settings that bring mental hospitals alive and much more than that.

Yes, “Umbrella” is a “difficult” novel, but it amply rewards the effort.

66.The underlined phrase "mind out of time" in the second paragraph probably refers, to          .

       A.a way a person faces difficulties light-heartedly

B.a condition where a person is unconscious

D.an occasion where a person doesn't mind the time

67.What troubles the readers most when they are reading Umbrella?

       A.The relations of the characters.

       B.The abstract language.

       C.The switch of time.

       D.The settings of battlefields.

68.We can safely infer from Paragraph 4,______.

       A.Self displays a fast-changing world to readers

B.Self created the style in which he wrote his story

C.Self avoided describing the scene of the war

D.Self’s style was followed by many other writers

69.Who else wrote a similar story besides Self?

       A.Audrey.                                B.Zach Busner.

       C.Oliver Sacks.                          D.Audrey's brother.

70.The novel Umbrella really attracts the readers because______.

A.the potential Self has as a modernist writer
