M: This is all your fault! This wouldn’t have happened if you hadn’t tried to give money to that policeman!

W: Well, if you’d listened to me when I suggested asking someone for directions, we shouldn’t have got lost in the first place, would we?

M: Oh, go on! Blame it all on me! You were the one who was driving when we got stopped by the police. If you hadn’t been speeding, we wouldn’t have been stopped at all!

W: That’s not fair. We were doing fine until you suddenly decided you knew a quicker way!

M: Oh, come on! I only suggest it because we were running so late. We would’ve been fine if you hadn’t suggested driving instead of taking the train.

W: No! We would’ve been fine if you had remembered to book tickets!

【题目】 A woman held her phone tightly to her heart the way a church-goer might hold a Bible. She was anxious to take a picture of an impressive bunch of flowers that sat not so far away, but first she had to get through a crowd of others pushing their way to do the same. The cause of this was Bouquets to Art, one of the most popular events at the de Young Museum in San Francisco.

Flower sellers were asked to create flower arrangements that respond to pieces of art on display, from ancient carvings to contemporary sculptures. It’s extremely attractive and also memorable, to the point that it has become a problem.

In recent years, the de Young received more than a thousand complaints from people who felt that cell phones had spoiled their experience of the exhibit. institutions of fine art around the world face similar problems as the desire to take photographs becomes a huge attraction for museums, as well as something that upsets some of their patrons (资助人). So the de Young responded with a kind of compromise: carving out "photo free" hours during the exhibition’s six-day run.

One common complaint about the effect of social media on museum culture is that people seem to be missing out on experiences because they are so busy collecting evidence of them. A study recently published in the journal Psychological Science suggests there is some truth to this. It finds that people who keep taking photos of an exhibit and posting them on social media rather than simply observing it, have; a hard time remembering what they see. But the issue is complex for the professionals running museums. Linda Butler, the de Young’s head of marketing and visitor experience, acknowledges that not everyone wants a museum to be "a photo-taking playland. " Yet a lot of people do and she believes that the de Young is in no position to judge one reason for buying a $28 ticket to be more valid than another. "If we removed social media and photography," she says, "we would risk becoming irrelevant. "

1What was the woman eager to do according to Paragraph 1?

A. To get her phone.B. To take a photo.

C. To escape the crowd.D. To push ahead.

2How did the de Young respond to the dilemma?

A. By setting periods without photo-taking.

B. By making the exhibition free of charge.

C. By compromising with the government.

D. By extending the free exhibition hours.

3The recent study finds that the use of social media in museums may .

A. uncover the truth

B. play a negative role

C. accumulate evidence

D. cause many complaints

4Which of the following may Linda Butler support?

A. Catering to visitors.

B. Reducing admission prices.

C. Reserving judgement in public.

【题目】Are you using a dating App to make friends? How do you know that Ben from London is really 25-year-old? Is his photo taken recently? Is his name even Ben? Dating apps can be tricky to operate, particularly when you’re trying to know whether someone is trustworthy, but one thing you can’t cheat is your gene, which is why a new dating app is using DNA as a basis for its match.

A dating app named Pheramor requires all users to hand in a cheek sample, from which a team of in-house scientists using a specially-created tool can queue the specific genes connected with attraction and then identify which users might be suitable. The process works by separating the 11 genes that link to our pheromones(信息素), the chemical signals that are believed to control; one’s attraction. Combining this data with the personal information allows the app to make very specific matches.

“Pheramor uses both your biology and your social technology: we collect your genetic data through a cheek sample and collect your like, dislikes, and interest from your social media introductions like Facebook, Twitter, etc,” the app’s website explains. “All of them will be used in our specific software, which is designed to learn what you prefer.”

The co-founder Brittany Barreto, who has a PHD in genetics added that Pheramor’s technology digs deeper than traditional dating apps, making it almost impossible for people to cheat their way to a date.

The Houston-based app is already up and running but hopes to be officially put into market in February with 3,000 members.

1What do we know about the new dating app according to Paragraph 1?

A. It can be operated easily by users.

B. It can know others’ trustworthiness.

C. It can select information on the website.

2What is Paragraph 2 mainly about?

A. What Pheramor is.

B. How Pheramor works.

C. How scientists deal with the data.

D. How the genes are connected with attraction.

3What will be used in Pheramor to learn the users’ preference?

A. Attraction and pheromones.

B. Pheromones and genetic data.

C. Social technology and attraction.

D. Genetic data and social media introductions.

4What is the author’s purpose in writing the text?

A. To introduce a safe dating app.

C. To avoid unreasonable requirements.

D. To teach people how to design apps.
