    Oscar Wilde and George Bernard Shaw
    Several hundred years after Shakespeare，English people began to enjoy the works of Oscar Wilde and George Bernard Shaw．Wilde's plays are still popular now，and The Importance of Being Earnest is both performed and studied extremely frequently．A Woman of No Importance and An Ideal Husband are among his other famous works．Shaw and Wilde were born within a few years of each other，but Shaw was a much more productive writer．His most famous plays include Pygmalion and Candida．Shaw's plays are loved so much that an entire theater company is devoted to performing his work in Niagara-on-the-Lake in southern Ontario．
    Harold Pinter
    The plays of Harold Pinter certainly have an international presence．His writing was so widely recognized for its importance that he was awarded the Nobel Prize in literature in 2005．Pinter is especially known for his style of writing．Many of his plays such as Betrayal，The Dumb Waiter and his first play，The Room，are extremely well known．

    The recent financial crisis is making things even harder for families，since unemployment is rising and even fewer people can afford to have children．With so much pressure on families，is it any surprise that the divorce rate is so high？
    So what is Britain doing to try and save the British family？The government is trying to make it cheaper to have children．For example，there have been increases in money families can claim from the state each month．Also，there are increasing government subsidies for nursery schools，so that parents do not need to pay so much for child care．
    The government is also trying to reduce the number of hours British parents have to work to earn enough money to pay their bills．If parents didn't have to work so many hours，they'd have more time to spend with their children and wouldn't need to spend so much on childcare．On average，a Briton works 49hours a week，which is the most in Europe．The state is now considering introducing laws to encourage companies to improve their employees'work-life balance．Let's hope they're not too late to save the British family．Otherwise，the British will always be too tired，and won't have enough time and money，to have children．

    Special kinds of headphones may not solve the problem．Users may turn up the volume to overcome surrounding noises，damaging the tiny hair cells in the inner ear that send sound energy to the brain．
    Once damaged，hair cells can neither be repaired nor replaced．The damage makes it difficult to hear high-pitched （声调高的） sounds，including certain speech sounds and the voices of women and children．Tinnitus （耳鸣），that is，ringing in the ear，can also result．
    The League for the Hard of Hearing advises children to take part in more quiet activities，like watching family-centered films，playing educational computer games，drawing and painting，and visiting libraries and museums．
