15.(BBC World Service) Two separate surveys suggest that Britain s teenagers are amongst the heaviest drug-users and drinkers in Europe.The British government has introduced a number of measures to deal with the use and supply of drugs,particularly among young people.
The European School Survey Project on Alcohol and Other Drugs interviewed 15and 16-year olds in 35countries.26% of boys and 29% of girls in the UK had been addicted to uncontrolled drinking at least three times in the previous month.In the same survey,42% of boys and 35% of girls admitted they had tried illegal drugs at least once.
According to another survey,by the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction,two in five 15-year-olds in the UK have tried cannabis(大麻).This number is higher than anywhere else in Europe.The UK has also the common highest number of young cocaine (可卡因) users,together with Spain.
The British government has recently made new plans to fight the problem of drug abuse in the United Kingdom,also among teenagers.According to the new proposals,young offenders will have to attend drug treatment as part of community service.British police will be able to give people blood tests for drugs when they arrest them,not just when they charge them with an offence.Drug sellers working near a school or using children to help sell drugs will face tougher penalties (处罚).
But schools also try to fight the problem of drug use themselves.At the beginning of 2005a British state school has introduced for the first time random drug testing.Students from a school in Kent will have mouth swabs (棉签) taken to discover drug use.Each week 20names will be selected by computer and the swabs sent off to a drug testing laboratory.Results will be available three days later.The school's head teacher says that no child will be tested against his or her wishes.Children who test positive will not be forced to leave the school,but those who sell drugs will.

分析 这是一篇新闻稿,主要报道了欧洲的青少年不少的学生比例接触毒品或吸食毒品的现象.

解答 45.答案 B 细节理解题  根据第三段…two in five 15-year-olds in the UK have tried cannabis(大麻).This number is higher thananywhere else in Europe…在英国五分之二的十五岁的青少年已经尝试过大麻,这个比例比欧洲其他任何地方都高.故答案为B
46.答案 B 推理判断题  根据Drug sellers working near a school or using children to help selldrugs will face tougher penalties (处罚).可知,在学校附近销售或利用儿童来帮助销售毒品的贩毒者会面对更加严厉的处罚.可以推断贩毒者利用学生销售毒品.故答案为B
47.答案 B   词义猜测题  根据Each week 20names will be selected by computer and the swabs sentoff to a drug testing laboratory.

3.Perhaps you're someone who lined up all of your dolls, action figures, and stuffed animals in front of a mini-chalkboard when you were a kid.You read to them and taught them how to solve math problems.Maybe when older, you became an after-school tutor and thought,"Hey,I'd like to do that full-time."
The inspiration to become a teacher hits some people when they're young while others become teachers later in life.Whether you want to study to be a teacher right out of high school or you change from another career into teaching, the best teachers share a few things in common.Of course, teachers have to have at least an undergraduate degree, and many districts require teachers to earn a graduate teaching degree. Many school districts have begun requiring a master's degree. However,on top of education, good teachers also display some common characteristics that help to inspire and motivate their students.
Some teachers prefer to teach in a very structured style while others prefer assigning group work, encouraging class discussions, and letting students do independent projects. Both types of teachers can be very well-organized as long as they have a reason for what they do and they've carefully planned their lessons. If you're good at making material not only fun but memorable and if you can present it in a brief way, then you probably have the organizational skills to become a teacher.
Great teachers know the subjects that they teach inside and out. They can explain the history, current developments, and future trends of the subjects. Also, they understand the basic theories of their fields.Elementary school teachers need to have command of various subjects, while middle school and high school teachers usually focus on a single subject area and they develop in-depth knowledge of that subject.
If you decide to become a teacher, you should commit to learning everything that you can while in high school and college. You also should develop good study habits that allow you to remember information about your field.
