本题为原词重现,根据第三段的anyone with his eyes can see mine is perfect可知,年轻人认为自己的心脏是完美的。
But because the pieces aren’t exact, I have some rough edges,可知,心脏上有粗糙的边缘。
选择A。
But because the pieces aren’t exact, I have some rough edges,的描述可知,老人认为心脏的每一个疤痕都提醒着他和别人分享的爱,他认为自己的心脏才是最美的。
I tear out a piece of my heart and give it to them, and often they ___ me a piece of their heart可知,老人把自己的心脏上取下一块送给所爱的人,而所爱之人再回赠一块,就这么形成了很多疤痕,所以这些疤痕都代表了爱。选择D。
先行词为a person,代入从句中构成短语,give my love to a person,缺少介词to,故空格处填to whom。选择D。
I tear out a piece of my heart and give it to them,可知我把我一部分心给一个人,那么这个人也会给我一块他的心脏。
故选择A。
选项A give in意为屈服;选项B give away意为赠送、泄露;选项C give off意为散发;选项D give up意为放弃。
故选择A,构成短语:take a chance,意为冒险、碰运气。
But because the pieces aren’t exact, I have some rough edges,可知,当在彼此交换的心不完全合适时,会有粗糙的边缘。 故选择A。

Tuvalu, a tiny country in the Pacific Ocean, has asked for help as it fears it will be swallowed up by the sea. Storms and huge waves are a constant threat and none of Tuvalu’s nine little islands is more than five meters above sea level. Salt water is already entering the country’s drinking water supply, as well as damaging plants that produce fruit and vegetable. 1.
2. Venice(威尼斯), a historic city in Italy best known for its canals, has sunk about 24 cm over the past 100 years. Experts say that it will have sunk another 20 cm-50 cm by 2050. A century ago, St. Mark’s Square, the lowest point in the city, was flooded about nine times a year. Nowadays, it happens more than 100 times. While Venice is slowly sinking into the mud on which it stands, Tuvalu’s rising sea level is caused by global warming.
The average global temperature has increased by almost 0.5 centigrade degree over the past century; scientists expect it to rise by extra 1-3 degrees over the next 100 years.
Warmer weather makes glaciers(冰川)melt, adding more water to the ocean. The warmer temperatures also make water expand, so it takes up more space, causing the sea level to rise. The sea level has risen about 10 cm-25 cm in the last 100 years.
3.
Through burning coal, oil and gas, people have been increasing the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, such as CO2. This adds to the power of the greenhouse effect, making the planet even warmer.
Many scientists believe that, if the warming is not stopped, there will be huge climate change. 4.
5. , the sea will swallow up millions of homes and the world will be flooded with "climate refugees" looking for somewhere to live.
A. The main cause of global warming is human pollution.
B. Should this come true
C. Without urgent help, the country’s days are numbered.
D. But Tuvalu is not the first place to face sinking into the sea.
E. The sea level could rise by one meter this century.
F. People face a lot of pollution.
G. Much has been done about our planet.

Dear mum and dad,
I still cannot believe that I am taking up this prize I won last year. I have to
remind yourself constantly that I am real in AD 3008. Worrying about the journey,
I was unsettled for the first a few days. As a result, I suffer from “time lag”. This
is similar with the “jet lag” you get from flying, but it seems that you keep getting
flashbacks from your previous time period. So I was very nervous and uncertain
at first. However, Wang Ping, my friend and guide, were very understanding
but gave me some green tablet which helped a lot. Well-known for their expertise,
his parents company transported me safely into the future in a time capsule.
…
Yours,
Li Qiang
