    1．The reason I wanted to see So Young is that it's Zhao Wei's directorial debut（处女秀）．I guess I didn't expect much else．
    So Young has everything a popular youth film should have：Beautiful young actors，a story about colorful campus life and involved romance，and a strong sense of longing for something past．
    The leading female character Zheng Wei （Yang Zishan） enrolls at university to stay close to her childhood sweetheart Lin Jing （Han Geng）．But when Lin moves abroad to pursue his education，life loses its shine for Zheng．Until she meets the dynamic yet cool Chen Xiaozheng （Mark Chao）．
    The film also features a bunch of vivid supporting characters：The school beauty who falls in love with a worthless unimportant person，the rich kid who is rejected by his dream girl，and Zheng's boyish roommate with a huge ego（自我）．
    Together they put on quite a show under Zhao's direction and her smooth and aesthetic camera work．You'll find yourself laughing over their trivial yet funny life on campus in the early 1990s．As expected，the film's second half takes the audience to years later when the characters have moved on into different corners of society．But the film unexpectedly doesn't focus on the comedic vibe and turns into a serious discussion about the meaning of life and love．Through the events in their current life and flashbacks of their college years，the film describes how life has changed these characters．And that's where the film goes wrong．
    The emotional change of the characters seems overhasty，If you watch the 2011youth film You're the Apple of My Eye，you'll find that the film's resonance（共鸣）with the audience accumulates from the beginning-through details like sexual fantasies and so on-and peaks in the end．In So Young，the sudden emotional touch with endless splendid lines just isn't enough to strike our hearts．
    Zhao also clearly wanted to give every character a proper ending．But unfortunately she tried a bit too hard，making the film's second half feel lengthy and unedited．
    Even so，given my reasonably low expectations，Zhao still gets full credits for her effort as a first-time director．Without her insightful input and observations，I think the film would have been worse．
    Just as time wrinkles the skin but enriches the soul，an ordinary film may as well be the best motivation for Zhao to make better ones in the future．

    7．About l，500 years ago the Japanese imported many aspects of Chinese culture：the writing system，political institutions，and perhaps the most important，Buddhism． Buddhist priests were expected to eat only vegetables，and tofu，made from the soybean，was a very important food in their diet．When Buddhism was introduced from China，tofu was also brought to Japan．
    Tofu developed in different ways in China and Japan．While the Chinese often changed the taste of tofu by mixing it with strongly-flavored vegetables or meat，the Japanese preferred to eat it using only a simple sauce． Even now，traditional Japanese cooking preserves the original delicacy of tofu，though the way it is served may change from season to season． In summer，for example，it is simply served cold，while in winter it is often eaten as part of a hot dish．
    The soybean was introduced to the West in the 18th century，but little interest was taken in it． Only scientists recognized its high food value．During the Second World War，when meat was in short supply，the US government encouraged the American people to eat soybean products．However，they never became very popular and，after the war，interest in them dropped off as the supply of meat became plentiful again．
    In recent years，people in the West have become increasingly aware of the dangers of eating too much animal fat，and as a result，they have turned more and more to soybean products． This is mainly because the soybean provides almost the same food value as meat，and in addition it is a lot more healthful． Much of the margarine （人造黄油），salad oil and cooking oil in daily use is now produced from soybean oil．Tofu，a representative soybean product and originally one of the main foods in the diet of Chinese priests，is considered to be one of the healthiest foods available to man．
