【题目】请阅读下面的文字,并按照要求用英语写一篇150词左右的文章

Researchers in the Netherlands report that children who get more exercise, whether at school or at other places, tend to have higher scores on standardized tests. In a review of 14 studies that looked at physical activity and academic performance investigators found that the more children moved? the better their grades were in school, particularly in the basic subjects of math, English and reading.

The data will certainly fuel the ongoing debate over whether physical education classes for senior three students should be reduced or even cancelled. The arguments against physical education have included concerns that gym time may be taking away study time. With standardized test scores in the US dropping in recent years, some administrators believe students need to spend more time in the classroom instead of on the playground. But as these findings show, exercise and academics may not be consequently exclusive. Physical activity can improve blood flow to the brain, memory, attention and creativity, which are essential to learning.

【答案】exerciseeffectacademic performance

A study conducted in the Netherlands suggests physical exercise has a positive effect on children' s academic performance, which may cause a heated debate about whether to reduce or even can cell the physical education classes for senior three students. As to the debate, I hold the view that physical education classes should not be reduced let alone can celled for senior three students. For one thing, students need physical exercise after long periods of study to help them relax, which can relieve their study pressure and refresh their brains. For another thing, as the above researchers report, physical exercise can improve blood flow to the brain, memory, attention and creativity, which will improve students' academic performance in turn. Last but not least, taking up physical exercise regularly is of great benefit to students' physical health, which is vital for senior three students, many of whom lack outdoor physical exercise due to the heavy study load. To sum up, physical education classes benefit students physically, mentally and academically, which are worth the time and efforts invested in them.

It's a small business 1 started, and everyone who enjoy, working here comes into the studio in free time, so they can be home with their family, cats, dogs at prime times.

I poured my first candle at the age of 14, using the candle-making tool that Feme had given me. I gave the finished product to my grandmother for Christmas. She loved that candle I'd made for her. That first candle was imperfect. Beautifully imperfect

And so, Christmas of that year, Wax Buffalo was launched. Little by little, the business grew as we found more people who wanted our candles. Now our candles are sold in more than 60 shops across the country.

Isn't life wonderful? Indeed, it is beautifully imperfect. But it hasn't turned out at all how I'd have predicted. I think that's what Ferne wanted me to understand. To trust the light of hope, to enjoy fun in its light, to know that it can transform a person from within.

【题目】 Scientists don’t know yet whether cell phones are bad for the brain.1

In the experiment, the 47 participants may have looked a little strange. Each of them had two Samsung cell phones tied to his or her head—one on each ear.2 The phone on the right ear played a message for 50 minutes, but the participants couldn’t hear it because the sound was off. After 50 minutes with two phone attached to their heads, the participants were given PET scans. The PET scan is a way to take a three-dimensional picture of how the inside of the bodyworks.

The PET scan showed that the left side of each participant’s brain hadn’t changed from the way it was before the experiment.3 These right-side brain cells were using almost as much glucose as the brain uses when a person is talking. This suggests that brain cells there were active even without the person hearing or talking anything. This activity, the scientists say, was probably touched off by radiation from the phone.

4 They release different amounts of radiation depending on whether a person is talking or listening, the type of phone, the number of people using phones nearby, and the distance to the nearest cell phone tower. All of these changes make it difficult to collect evidence about any health risks of cell phones, since exposure to radiation can vary.

So for those who don’t want to wait to find out for sure whether cell phones are bad for the brain, there are ways to talk more safely.5

A.The phone on the left ear was off.

B.So an experiment was done to attempt to find it out.

C.People should avoid having a long conversation by using cell phones.

D.Cell phones do not always give out the same amount of energy.

E.You can have short conversations, use a speakerphone to keep the phone away from your head.

F.The right side of the brain, however, had used more glucose, which provided fuel to brain cells.

G.From the PET scan the differences between the two sides of the brain were observed.

【题目】 It was several years ago when my wife asked me to meet her at the local department store on Black Friday morning. They had advertised a child's bike that she wanted to purchase for our son. We stood with a very large crowd, waiting for the manager to blow the whistle. After a while the whistle blew. It was like throwing a basket of chum into a tank of sharks. I told my wife that if we obtained a bike, fine, but if we did not, I was OK with that too.

As the boxes of bikes began to gradually decrease, I saw my opportunity to wrap my hands around the corner of one of them. I lifted it off and suddenly felt some mild resistance. I looked up to see one of the largest men I had ever seen in my life. Frightening was not enough to describe his presence. He was decorated with numerous leather belts with metal buttons around both arms and even his neck. Tattoos (纹身) were an obvious passion of his.

I started to loosen the box but he gently pushed it back in my direction and back into my hands. He then directed it into my shopping cart. He looked at me, smiled, and said, “Merry Christmas.”

My wife and I went to the checkout, paid for the bike and went home. All the way home I was thinking that this moment was by far the best Christmas gift I had ever received. The kindness of a human heart in a simple act of a stranger broke all preconceived notions (先入为主) I may have had. I will never forget it.

1What does the underlined word “chum” mean in Paragraph1?

A.Gifts.B.Food.

C.Goods.D.Souvenirs.

2Why did the author loosen the box when seeing the man?

A.The author didn't want to buy it.B.The man needed it more.

C.The author was frightened by the man.D.The man got the box first.

3What can be a suitable title for the text?

A.The Best Christmas Gift.B.The Largest Man I Have Ever Seen.

C.An Unforgettable Bike.D.A Shopping Experience.
