【解析】Dear Mary,
Hello, I'm Li Hua. My English name is Jessica. I study in Grade One in a Senior High school in Shandong, China. I am so glad to reply.
I still remember the first time I went to school when I was six. The school was so big and there were so many students that I didn't know what to watch. I was impressed with the tall tree near our classroom. It looked like a huge umbrella to give welcome shade from the sun in the hot summer. The most interesting activity in Grade One was telling stories. If someone became the star of that day, he would win a red star made of paper. My first teacher was Miss Chen, who was our Chinese teacher. Jane was my first friend. We often went home together after school. It's a pity that we have lost touch with each other.
Anyway, I'm interested in your school life in Senior High. Would you like to be my pen pal?
Yours,
Li Hua

【题目】 (2014 河北开滦月考) I came to study in the United States a year ago. Yet I did not know the real American society until I was injured in a car accident because after the accident I had to see a doctor and go to court.
After the accident, my roommate called a doctor for me. I was very grateful and determined to repay him one day. But the next day, he asked me to pay him $200 for what he had done. I was astonished. He had good reason to charge me, he said. And if I wanted to collect money from the person who was responsible for my injury, I'd have to have a good lawyer. And only a good doctor can help me get a good lawyer. Now that he had helped me find a good doctor, it was only fair that I should pay him.
But every day I went to see the doctor, I had to wait about 50 minutes. He would see two or three patients at the same time, and often stop treating one so as to see another. Yet he charged me $115 each time. The final examination report consisted of ten lines, and it cost me $215.
My lawyer was all smiles the first time we met. But after that he avoided seeing me at all. He knew very well the other party was responsible for the accident, yet he hardly did anything. He simply waited to collect his money. He was so irresponsible that I decided to dismiss him. And he made me pay him $770.
Now I had to act as my own lawyer. Due to my inexperience, I told the insurance company the date I was leaving America. Knowing that, they played for time... and I left without getting a cent.

【题目】 You might take a car, a bus, or a bike to school. But in Bangladesh, instead of waiting for a school bus to come down their street, many students wait for a school boat to come down the river. That’s right—these students attend school on a boat!

Growing up in Bangladesh, Mohammed Rezwan was often troubled by the destruction. In 1998 he founded an organization called Shidhulai. The name means “self-reliance .” The purpose of the organization is to help the people of Bangladesh receive an education and also to bring technology and an improved quality of life to poor people in remote areas of the country. The school boats travel along the rivers and pick up students for classes that include computer technology, agriculture, and human rights.
At night the boats provide additional learning opportunities for students and adults. ______【4】______ They study using solar lamps that are charged during the day at stations near the river. Special equipment on the boats also projects lessons onto big screens made from sailcloth. People can come down to the riverbank to watch films.
