【题目】阅读下面短文,根据其内容写一篇60词左右的内容概要。

Electric car sales around the world rose by 54 percent in 2017, taking global stock across the three-million threshold (门槛), the International Energy Agency IEA said in a report on Wednesday. In China, the world’s biggest market for electric vehicles, sales also grew by about half — but their market share remained small at 2.2 percent. In Norway, electric vehicles have by far the world’s highest market share, with 39.2 percent, according to the IEA.

“Supportive policies and cost reductions are likely to lead to significant growth in the market uptake of electric vehicles in the outlook period to 2030,” the report said, If policymakers honor their current commitments to the environment, “the number of electric light-duty vehicles on the road would reach 125 million by 2030,” it added. And if policy ambitions develop further, that number could become as high as 220 million by 2030, it said. But the IEA said that in order for the cars of the future to overtake their petrol and diesel-powered (柴油动力)competitors, governments will have to take the lead.

“The main markets by numbers China and sales share Norway have the strongest policy push,” the IEA said. “Looking ahead, the strongest current policy signals come from electric car policies in China and California, as well as the European Union’s recent proposal on CO2 emissions (排放)standards for 2030. ”

The EU has committed to cutting 40 percent of its greenhouse gas emissions from 1990 levels, and to improving its use of renewable energy by at least 27 percent. France, home to Europe’s second-biggest car industry after Germany, has gone further by announcing a plan to end sales of petrol and diesel vehicles by 2040, as part of an ambitious plan to meet its targets under the Paris climate accord (条约). Electric vehicles use batteries instead of petrol or diesel fuel, thereby massively reducing their damage to the environment. But they are not without controversy (争论).

【题目】

This month Angelina Horsefield writes about an animal rescue (援救) society in Australia: WIRES

WIRES Wildlife Information and Rescue Service began in 1985 when someone found an injured bird in a park in Sydney, Australia. At the time, no one knew how to help this “native” animal. WIRES help animals like snakes, kangaroos and, of course, birds. However, they can only help Australian wildlife, so they can’t help other animals like cats or rabbits.

Like other animal rescue groups, WIRES need more people. I believe they are helping the local animals, but they can only continue if others join in. They hold excellent courses, where people can learn what to do when they find an injured animal. They also explain what happens to the animals in their care. Many of the people who help also lake care of the animals themselves in their own gardens or on their farms.

I spoke to 15-year-old Guy McKenzie, whose dad helps WIRES in his free time. Guy told me about the work they do. “Dad usually gets a phone call at home and drives immediately to where the animal is, to rescue it. He has special equipment and always wears gloves. The animals are wild, after all.”

Guy also talked about a woman who found a bat in her garden. She thought it might be dead but then she noticed that there was a baby bat too. Guy’s dad brought it back to the centre, where it grew into a healthy adult. Then, WIRES returned it to nature. Guy showed me a baby kangaroo that his dad was looking after and told me that one day he’ll be doing the same thing. Yes, he will, for sure.

1WIRES aim at helping ________.

A.pet animalsB.wildlife animals

C.small animalsD.farm animals

2Guy’s dad is an example to show ________.

A.who started WIRESB.how one helps WIRES

C.why people join WIRESD.how WIRES study animals

3What does Guy hope to do in the future?

A.Live in nature.B.Take care of his dad.

C.Study bats.D.Work for WIRES.

4The author writes the passage in order to ________.

A.describe a course on animalsB.introduce an animal scientist

C.call on people to join the rescue groupD.give advice on keeping pets

【题目】 Do you know what a castle is? A castle is a building special to Europe. Castles were built in the Middle Ages by king and other powerful people who live in. Castles were used by people to protect themselves from their enemies. They are big buildings made form stone and wood.

Today there are still castles all over Europe. Some are in ruins. But some built later are still in good repair and used even today. One example is Windsor Castle, which is a home to the British queen. It is in the country or Berkshire, not far from London.

Castles have walls around them. In the old days, soldiers would stand on the walls to guard the people in the castle. If enemies came they would shoot arrows and throw stones at them. Castles also had moats. A moat is a river around the wall that makes it difficult for enemies to get in. It could be either dry or filled with water.

Other people from younger countries love European castles. In the US there are rich people who have brought broken parts of castles to their country and rebuilt them. And some people build “replica” castles — modern copies of Castle.

You probably know the Disneyland Castle in California, US. But did you know it is based on a famous castle in Germany built by King Ludwig of Bavaria?

1Which of the following is TRUE about the castle?

A.It is a special American building.

B.It is made from stone and paper.

C.Only king used to live in it.

D.People used it to protect themselves.

2We can tell from the story that a moat is _______.

A.a wallB.a soldier

C.a riverD.a stone

3According to the passage we can know that_______.

A.there are castles only in some European countries now

B.in the US, there used to be castles in the Middle Ages

C.in the US, the people rebuilt the old castles or build the modern ones

D.the Disneyland castle is built in Germany

4What does the passage mainly talk about?

A.The history of Windsor castles.B.Facts about castles.

C.The king and the castles.D.How to build castles.
