I'm 30 years old, and there are several things that life has taught me that I want to share with you. Here are the 4 lessons that life has taught me in the past 30 years.
1 Take care of your body
Life is “unfairly” biased (偏向的) towardspeople who “look good,” like it or not. So it’s important that you do all that is in your power to look your best. You will live longer, and you will live happier, if you take care of your body; you may even get promoted faster on your job. Remember that your health is really your greatest wealth.
2
No one taught me to save when I was growing up; no one told me the importance of saving. Fortunately I was able to learn the value of savingthrough reading great books like “The Millionaire Next Door”. What I want toteach others is to save at least twenty percent of your income. If you are tobe wealthy, you must not just earn a lot, you must save a lot.
3 Think in the long term
In high school I was thinking about college, in college I was thinking about life after college. I'm designing my life and I’m making decisions today that will enable me to live the life I desire when I’m in my40’s, 50’s and 60’s. You have to think in the long term; you have to see the“big picture”.
4 Realize the power of focus
Focus, focus, focus…If you fail in this lifetime, you will fail because of broken focus. If you focus on the goals that are most important to you, you will achievethem. The problem is that there are so many distractions.Winners decide to major on majors, and they even let important things slip, because they just focus on achieving whatis critical to their goals.
A.The importanceof saving.
B.If you planyour future properly, you will live into your plans.
C.Save yourmoney.
D.Nothing ismore important than focus.
E.What separatesthe winners from the losers is that the winners learn to focus on their goals.
F.I meandressing nicely, working out and eating right.
G.It’s importantthat you pursue relationships with individuals who are good first.

ger, and you will live happier, if you take care of your body;我们活的更久,更健康。 What I want to teach others is to saveat least twenty percent of your income. 故B项“If you plan your future properly, youwill live into your plans”与本段中心思想一致。 D项“Nothing is more important than focus.” Theproblem is that there are so many distractions. Winnersdecide to major on majors........ to their goals.

Sleep is something we all do. But some people need to sleep more than others. Babies sleep most of the time. Children in school sleep about ten to twelve hours a night. Most adults sleep only seven or eight hours. All parts of our bodies have to rest after they work.. Our arms need a rest after we lift heavy thing, When we run fast, our legs work hard. Our brains slow down a bit when we sleep and dream. Instead of thinking wide-awake thoughts, our brains make up dreams. Some dreams are very pleasing. Some are not. Most of thetime we forget them when we wake up.
Scientists have tried to find out what would happen if people were not allowed to sleep. They asked some people not to go to bed. The people stayed up all night and all the next day. They stayed up the next night too,and the day after. They played games, but they made mistakes. They forgot things. The people grew rude and mean. They became angry with their friends. Finally they were too tired to stand up. When they sat down, they fell asleep.
Scientists have found that if people are not allowed to sleep and to dream, they act in an unusual way.But we do know that we need it to stay well. So tonight have a goodsleep. Lie down under the covers. Shut your eyes. Let your thoughts wander.Soon you’ll stop thinking. You'll be asleep.

When I was only 3 years old, my mother taught me to memorize and recite poems. She was my first teacher of the arts, and my father was the first to appreciate my performance. Even at that young age, I had a simple understanding of how art and culture affect us as human beings and how we can connect to each other through the arts, which shapes my life to this day.
When I was growing up, my parents supported my interest in taking acting classes and doing community theater. Their faith in me and the professional(专业的)training I was getting from my theater teachers gave me a sense of purpose and a sense of self-confidence. I learned what artistic achievement actually was and what hard work the business was. While many people see the rosy picture to our business, I was really learning what it would require for me to become a professional.
I became an actress, but arts education isn't just about preparing our young people for a job in the arts. I recently talked to some of the kids attending theater education. Some of them want to work in theater, and some don't. They are learning not only theater skills, but also about the world around them. They learn about discipline(纪律)and hard work and what's required and what they have to do to bring themselves to the work. They learn how they can be of service in the world through the arts. They learn how to work with a team. By studying the arts, these students are open to worlds and lives that they might not have any other way of knowing about or any other way to connect with in their lives the way they are right now.
These young people are our future. We are passing the torch to them. And I think that's one of the most important reasons why we need to foster(培养)the arts.

In the tenth grade,I began working for free at a vet's that was run by a friend. I wanted to get experience for what I thought would be my future job. However,on one particular Saturday morning I learnt something perhaps more important.
The hospital was in the middle of one of the poorer sections of the city and some people could only pay for the most basic treatments. On this Saturday,a man and his young son,who was probably about 7 years old, walked in with a small cat in a cardboard box. There was something wrong with the cat's left eye. But the man could not afford to pay for the cost of the medicine. He kept quiet for a while, and then he asked where the nearest animal shelter was. Hearing this, his son cried and started to argue with him. All of a sudden,an older woman who was sitting in the waiting room stood up,walked up to the counter, and told the man that she would pay for the cost. The man thanked her and the son got to keep a healthy cat.
I always thought it was the right thing to help out a needy person, but I only saw people do acts of kindness on TV or in movies. What the woman did made me believe that these things do happen in real life, and quite often.
Now,when I can't decide whether to help someone who is in need,I remember this woman, and then I have the courage to step up to the plate. Sometimes other people follow.
(1)We can infer that a vet's is most probably a hospital for.
A.kids
B.animals
C.the poor
D.women
(2)For what purpose did the writer work at the vet's?
A.To help out his friend.
B.To make some pocket money.
C.To get some work experience.
D.To learn more about society.
(3)What would the man probably do with the cat if the woman didn't help him?
A.Give it up.
B.Give it to the woman.
C.Give it to someone on the street.
D.Take it home without treatment.
(4)What can we learn from this passage?
A.The man doesn't like keeping a cat.
B.The older woman often helps people out.
C.The hospital often asks for too much money.
D.The man's son didn't agree to the man's first decision.

Television has turned 88 years old onSeptember 7, 2015, and it has never looked better. In its youth, television wasa piece of furniture with a tiny, round screen showing unclear pictures oflow-budget programs. In spite of its shortcomings, it became popular. Between1950 and 1963, the number of American families with a television jumped from 9%to 92% of the population.
As the audience got larger, thetechnology got better. Television sets became more reliable through the 1960s.The reception (接收效果)improved. The picture improved. The major networks started broadcastingprograms in color.
Even greater improvements were comingaccording to Sanford Brown, who wrote an article for the Post in 1967.Surprisingly, just about every prediction he made in the article became areality. For example: All sets in the not-distant future will be colorinstruments. He also predicted that TV sets would become smaller, simpler, morereliable and less expensive and may forever put the TV repairman out of work.Smaller sets do not, of course, mean smaller screens. TV engineers expectscreens to get much bigger. However, today’s 3-D TV is even farther away, ifit’s coming at all. There is some doubt whether the public would be eager topay for it, in view of people’s cold reception given to 3-D movies.
But the technology with the greatestpotential, according to Brown, was cable television (有线电视), whichwas still in its early stages then. As he predicted, the future of cabletelevision was highly interactive (互动的). It wasn’t cable television that gaveAmericans their electronic connection to the world, however. It was theInternet. He even foresaw the future office: using picture phones, big-screentelevisions for conferences, and computers providing information at the touchof a button.
Brown ever said, “The future oftelevision is no longer a question of what we can invent. It’s a question ofwhat we want.”
(1)What can we infer about television sets in the 1960s?
A.They were very popular with Americans.
B.The reception showed no improvement.
C.They showed black-and-white pictures.
D.They were out of order now and then.
(2)Which of the followings did Sanford Brown fail to predict?
A.Television’s good quality.
B.The invention of 3-D TV.
C.The future office’s model.
D.The potential of cable TV.
(3)What is the text mainly about?
A.The shortcomings of television.
B.The bright future of television.
C.The development of television.
D.The invention of television.
