¡¾´ð°¸¡¿Dear Tom,

I¡¯m glad to know that you are coming to China to learn Shaolin kung fu.I¡¯m writing to offer you some advice.

As you know,Shaolin Temple is located in Dengfeng,Henan Province, which is famous for Chinese kung fu. When you come to China, the destination of your flight should be Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport, which is in the suburb of Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan Province.

Then you can take a bus to Shaolin Temple. There are all kinds of short courses for you to choose from,so you can visit the website for detailed information.

Remember that it is hard to practice Chinese kung fu,especially in the beginning. And the life seems boring because you have to practice all the time.

If you need further information, please let me know.

Yours,

Li Hua

How Fit Are Young Teens?
How often do you exercise? A new study finds that most kids ages 12 to 15 aren't getting enough physical activity.
U.S. fitness guidelines recommend (ÍƼö) an hour or more of physical activity every day. According to the study, only 1 in 4 U.S. kids meet the recommendation. Few kids in the survey met the guidelines for physical activity that raises the heart rate and makes you breathe harder. However, most of those kids said they did at least an hour of exercise at that level during the previous week.
The study found fat teens were less active than normal-weight girls and boys. Overweight girls were slightly less active than normal-weight girls.
¡°There's always room for improvement,¡± said health expert Tala. She also said the results provide useful information to help with fitness campaigns such as Let's Move, which was launched by First Lady Michelle Obama. To inspire kids to eat right and get in shape, the First Lady visits schools and holds exercise events. She also calls on schools to offer regular gym classes.
The research suggests kids who get physical education may get better grades.
A. It's concerning.
B. She is an expert on children's health.
C. She was the lead author of the study.
D. The results are based on about 800 kids.
E. Schools should give kids more time for physical activity.
F. But levels were similar among overweight and normal-weight boys.
G. Overall, about 25% said they got an hour of that kind of difficult exercise every day.

Tom is one of my best friends at high school. We spent a lot of time together every day. We share a lot common. For example, we both work hardly and love sports. Although I am not so smart as her, we both do very well at school. Tom's favorite subjects is history and Chinese, and he also speaks excellent English. I am used to be bad at English. Thank to his help, I have made a great progress in it. Yesterday, our English teacher said she decided to hold an English speech contest next week. I think a good chance to improve my English. Both Tom and I are looking forward to show our potential in the speech contest!

By May, after three months, I had lost22pounds and reached my goal of 115 pounds. My friends would say ¡°Alice, you look great!¡± or ¡°How did you lose so much weight?¡± Those compliments made me feel good and confident.
Soon I dropped to110 pounds. A few of my friends told me that I needed to stop dieting, because I was starting to look sick. They brought me a present¡ª¡ª a bag of chocolates, which I later gave to my sister. My mother would come to my room, with tears in her eyes, and have long chats about how harmful this diet was and begged me to stop. My dad would leave worried messages on my cell phone at school, telling me that it would do serious harm to my body.
By mid-June, when school was coming to an end, I was down to an only alive state of 95 pounds. All of a sudden, I knew I had to do something. I guessed the number itself scared me. I recalled my doctor. He told me about a girl who was 95 pounds and was at the risk of dying. I knew I was putting my life at risk, but for what? To make those who love me worried? Was it worthwhile to be thin?
Now I realize that models in magazines, TV and movies are not realistic. The price to pay for the ¡°perfect body¡± is living with a dangerous and sometimes deadly eating disorder. And there are more important things to think about than how thin you are.
