I happen to meet some American tourists at the gate of the Summer Palace last week. I greeted them with English and then we began to chat. I got to know that they were college student travelling in China. Most of us were fond of Chinese medicine. They were busy take pictures and were surprising at the changes that had taken place in the past few years. After that, we went boat and had a good time. We were exchanged our e-mail addresses so that we could write to each other in the future. They thanked me again and again . I was gladly to have a chance to practice my oral English. What wonderful experience it was!

¡¾ÌâÄ¿¡¿To forgive is a virtue, but no one has ever said it is easy. When someone has deeply hurt you, it can be extremely difficult to let go of your hate. However, forgiveness is possible, and it can be surprisingly beneficial to your physical and mental health. People who forgive show less sadness, anger and stress and more hopefulness, according to a recent research.

_____¡¾1¡¿_____ Try the following steps:

Calm yourself. _____¡¾2¡¿____ You can take a couple of breaths and think of something that gives you pleasure: a beautiful scene in nature, or someone you love.

Don¡¯t wait for an apology. Many times the person who hurt you does not intend to apologize. They may have wanted to hurt you or they just don¡¯t see things the same way. ____¡¾3¡¿____ Keep in mind that forgiveness does not necessarily mean becoming friends again with the person who upset you.

Take the control away from your offender(ð·¸Õß). Rethinking about your hurt gives power to the person who causes you pain. Instead of focusing on your wounded feelings, learn to look for the love, beauty and kindness around you.

_____¡¾4¡¿____ If you understand your offender, you may realize that he or she was acting out of unawareness, fear, and even love. You may want to write a letter to yourself from your offender¡¯s point of view.

Don¡¯t forget to forgive yourself. ___¡¾5¡¿_____ But it can rob you of your self-confidence if you don¡¯t do it.

A.Why should you forgive?

B.How should you start to forgive?

C.Recognize the benefits of forgiveness.

D.Try to see things from your offender¡¯s angle.

E.For some people, forgiving themselves is the biggest challenge.

F.To make your anger die away, try a simple stress-management technique.

G.If you wait for people to apologize, you could be waiting an awfully long time.

As a father who works outside the home, I recognize that it is easy for me to get caught up in stress at work. Indeed, sometimes it is difficult to turn off my work focus and turn on my family focus so that I can come home and be the loving husband my wife needs and the playful father my kids want.¡¾1¡¿. I arrived late one night on a business trip, so I decided to have dinner in the hotel I stayed in. As I was finishing my meal, an elderly couple came in. They were holding hands and had lovely smiles on their faces. They sat three tables from me. I was amazed at the love they showed for each other. It struck me because it was shortly after ending a 20-year marriage and I still had pain in my heart.

My waiter was also their waiter. As I paid my bill, I asked what their bill was. He told me, and I gave him $40 to pay their bill. He asked if I knew them and I told him ¡°No, I just wanted to repay them for the love that they were showing to each other,¡± and then I left. The next day I entered the restaurant again. After I had been seated, the waiter who served me the night before told me that the strangest thing happened after I left the restaurant. When the elderly couple went to pay for their meal, they were told that it had been paid. The waiter just told them what I said. They were amazed. They looked around, asked for the bill of two young couples who were seated together, paid their bill and left.

I smiled and ordered my meal. About 45 minutes later, I finished my meal and was about to head out, but my waiter was nowhere to be found. I explained to the hostess that I needed to pay for my meal and hurry to the airport. She smiled and explained that I would not have to pay, because she felt she should pay for my bill because of the joy brought to the faces of the elderly couple and the amazement of the young couples.

When I told her that they didn¡¯t have to do that, she said with a smile ¡°Love creates Love.¡±

Tokyo is one of those places that you can love and hate at the same time.

In Tokyo there are always too many people in the places where I want to be. Of course there are too many cars. The Japanese drive very fast when they can. But in Tokyo they often spend a long time in traffic jams. Tokyo is not different when one wants to walk.

At certain times of the day there are a lot of people on foot in London's Oxford Street. But the streets near Ginza in Tokyo always have a lot of people on foot, and sometimes it is really difficult to walk. People are very polite; there are just too many of them.

The worst time to be in the street is at 11:30 at night. That is when the night-clubs are closing and everybody wants to go home. There are 35,000 night-clubs in Tokyo, and you do not often see one that is empty.

Most people travel to and from work by train. Tokyo people buy six million train tickets every day. At most stations, trains arrive every two or three minutes, but at certain hours there do not seem to be enough trains. Although they are usually crowded, Japanese trains are very good. They always leave and arrive on time. On a London train you would see everybody reading a newspaper. In Tokyo trains everybody in a seat seems to be asleep, whether his journey is long or short.

In Tokyo, I stood outside the station for five minutes. Three fire-engines raced past on the way to one of the many fires that Tokyo has every day. Tokyo has so many surprises that none of them can really surprise me now. Instead, I am surprised at myself: I must go there next year on business. I know I hate the overcrowded city. But I feel like a man who is returning to his long-lost love.

¡¾1¡¿Tokyo is different from London in that ________.

A. it has a smaller population

B. it is an international city

C. it is more difficult to go somewhere on foot in Tokyo

D. its people are friendlier and more polite.

¡¾2¡¿What time does the writer think is the worst time to go into the street?

A. When the night-clubs are closing.

B. At 8 o'clock in the morning.

C. When the train is overcrowded.

D. At 11:30 a.m.

¡¾3¡¿What does the writer say about Japanese trains?

A. There are not enough trains.

B. They are very nice and comfortable.

C. They leave and arrive at the right time.

D. They often run behind schedule.

¡¾4¡¿From the writer's observation, we can see that fires break out in Tokyo ________.

A. occasionally B. quite frequently

C. not very often D. twice a day
