Recently, we have conducted a survey on near-sightedness suffered by pupils and middle school students．We are astonished by the result that an increasing number of students have become near-sighted, with a percentage of 21 in elementary（primary） schools and 32% in middle schools．
The findings are that many students have to spend much time doing their lessons because of heavy schoolwork．Even some students are addicted to playing computer games, surfing the Internet or chatting on line．Worse still, few students have formed the habit of relaxing their eyes after hard work．Besides, poor living and studying conditions also account for this situation．
We advocate that it is quite necessary for students to protect their eyesight automatically for the sake of their further development．Meanwhile, living and studying conditions in some areas call for immediate improvement．
