Prizes
Each year at least two teens are honored for outstanding service to their community by Teen Ink.Contest winners receive $100 for their favorite charity and a copy of the magazine featuring their winning essay.Plus,they’ll have the opportunity to choose from an exciting selection of Teen Ink merchandise（商品）—clothing and other items—available only from Teen Ink.

Imagine the tallest building in the United States. Fill that giant building 44 times with rotten fruits and vegetables. Now you know how much food Americans waste every year.

A new movement is trying to make people see the “beauty” in ugly food. Some stores are selling ugly produce. It tastes the same. And you pay less for it because the food doesn’t look perfect.
Usually, the stores find a nicer word than “ugly”. A Canadian chain uses “naturally imperfect”. In some US stores, it’s “misfit produce”. Whatever you call it, ugly food helps many people. Fanners get paid for food they were going to have to throw away. Shoppers get cheaper fruits and vegetables. The ugly-food movement will also help some of the 44 million Americans who don’t have enough to eat. Many groups give the ugly produce to hungry people.
So really, who cares if that carrot looks a little… ugly?

I am wondering if that influenced my parents to put me into Mrs. Gutzlaff’s school. Have you ever been to Wuzhen? It is such beautiful a village that I have already visited it many times. Locating in Jiaxing, Zhejiang province, it has a history of about 6,000 years. Like much small towns in the southern area, that has a lot of small bridges going over clean streams. Local people live old houses, and they are very friendly. During the day, you can walk or sitting on a boat to enjoy the natural scenery along the streams. The scene at night is attractively as well. There are many kind of round and square light. But if a freelance cameraman is injured in the course of the job, the TV company is not responsible for him. The freelancer must survive on his own.
“TV will always need hard, vivid moving pictures which are fresh, but these companies feel uncomfortable with large numbers of employees on their books,” explains Nik Growing, once foreign editor for Britain’s Channel 4 News and now a BBC news presenter.
“By hiring freelancers, they can buy in the skills they need only when they need them. It also enables them to contract out the risk,” he says.
