答案:1.D;2.B;3.A;4.B;5.C;6.D;7.B;8.A;9.C;10.B;11.D;12.C;13.D;14.A;15.D;16.C;17.B;18.A;19.D;20.B;
解析:

(1)

(4)

由第3段中since they were already as good as dead可知。as good as实际上等于。

(5)

由第5段提到的jump with every bit of energy he had可知,此处是表示他们用力(strength)跳跃。

(6)

与第1段中it was hopeless相照应。

(7)

(8)

根据第四段中and died as the others looked on in helpless sorrow.可知。

(9)

energy精力,与上文提到的jumped with all of their strength以及下一段最后一句话可知。

(10)
