    Welcome to Windsor Castle，the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world．Windsor is one of the official residences（住所）of the Queen，who sometimes stays here．
    Audio tours
    Free audio tours are available on leaving the Admission Centre at the start of your visit．There is a descriptive audio tour for blind and poor-sighted visitors．
    Guided tours
    Visitors can explore the history of the Castle through a tour of the Precincts with an expert guide．Tours depart at regular intervals throughout the day from the Courtyard and finish at the entrance to the State Apartments．
    Shopping
    Shops offer a wide range of souvenirs designed for the Royal Collection，including books，postcards，china，jewelry，and children's toys．Please ask at the Middle Ward shop about our home delivery service．
    Refreshments
    Bottled water can be purchased from the Courtyard and Middle Ward shops．From April to September ice cream is also available．Visitors wishing to leave the Castle for refreshments in the town may obtain re-entry permits from the castle shops．Eating and drinking are not permitted in the State Apartments or St George's Chapel．
    Visitors with children
    For those visiting with children，a special family tour and various activities are offered during school holidays and at weekends．Please note that，for safety reasons，pushchairs are not permitted in the State Apartments．However，baby carriers are available to borrow．
    St George's Chapel
    Visitors arriving at the Castle after 15：00 from March to October are advised to visit St George's Chapel first before it closes．
    Photography and mobile phones
    Non-commercial photography and filming are welcomed in the Castle．Photography，video recording and filming are not permitted inside the State Apartments or St George's Chapel in consideration of other visitors．
    Security
    As Windsor Castle is a working royal palace，visitors and their belongings should get through airport-style security checks．For safety and security reasons a one-way system operates along the visitor route．

    17．Aerial performer Jennifer Bricker was born without legs，but she never let it stop her．
    Wrapped in a loop of red silk hung from the ceiling Jennifer Bricker climbs and twists to the music．Her head hangs down and her strong arms let go as she balances on her back，high above the ground a move that's all the more daring because she has no legs．
    Jennifer was a few months old when she was adopted by Sharon and Gerald Bricker．She had big brown eyes，a bright smile，and huge amounts of energy．When a doctor advised her adoptive parents to carry her around in a kind of bucket，they refused．
    Jennifer soon learned to walk-and run-on her hands and bottom，and grew up fearlessly climbing trees and bouncing on the trampoline （蹦床） with her three older brothers．"My parents didn't treat me differently so I didn't grasp the concept that I was different．I knew I didn't have legs but that wasn't stopping me from doing the things I wanted to do．"
    At the age of three she was fitted with artificial legs，but she never really took to them-she moved more freely without．
    In 1996 the Olympic Games took place in Atlanta．Jennifer loved to watch the women's gymnastics team，and especially adored the 14-year-old Dominique Moceanu who competed for the US．When Moceanu and the women's team won gold，Jennifer decided she was going to be a gymnast，too．She took up power tumbling，which involves performing floor exercises down a runway．But Jennifer did not want any allowances to be made for her disability．
    At the age of 10 she took part in the Junior Olympics and by age 11 she was tumbling champion for the state of Illinois．
    Jennifer now travels the world as an inspirational speaker and acts as an aerial performer．

    4．For many people who live in cities，parks are an important landscape．They provide a place for people to relax and play sports，as well as a shelter from the often severe environment of a city．What people often overlook is that parks also provide considerable environmental benefits．
    One benefit of parks is that plants absorb carbon dioxide and give off oxygen．According to one study，an acre of trees can absorb the same amount of carbon dioxide that a typical car emits in 11，000 miles of driving．Parks also make cities cooler．Scientists have long noted what is called the Urban Heat Island Effect：building materials such as metal and concrete（混凝土）absorb much more of the sun's heat and release it much more quickly than trees and grass．Because city landscapes contain so much of these building materials，cities are usually warmer than surrounding rural areas．Parks and other green spaces help to lessen the Urban Heat Island Effect．
    Unfortunately，many cities cannot easily create more parks．However，cities could benefit from many of the positive effects of parks by encouraging citizens to create another type of green space：rooftop gardens．While most people would not think of starting a garden on their roof，human beings have been planting gardens on rooftops for thousands of years．Some rooftop gardens are simple container gardens that anyone can create with the investment （投资） of a few hundred dollars and a few hours of work．
    Rooftop gardens provide many of the same benefits as other urban parks and garden spaces，but without taking up the much-needed land．In the summer，rooftop gardens prevent buildings from absorbing heat from the sun，which can significantly reduce cooling bills．In the winter，gardens help control the heat that materials like brick and concrete release so quickly，leading to savings on heating bills．Rooftop vegetables and herb gardens can also provide fresh food for city settlers，making their diets healthier．Rooftop gardens are not only something everyone can enjoy but also a smart environmental investment．
