Dear Tom,
Last summer I take a part-time job in the International Camp for children. I have told one more worker will be needed in this year and I think you are fit for it. How about join us? The camp is at the foot of a small hill closed to a river. It's such beautiful a place! We can hear birds singing happy all round. Everybody sleeps in tents, that is very exciting. We usually work only five hours a day, so we will have a lot of spare time to visit the area or have fun. I am sure it will be a unforgettable experience. If you have an interest in it, write to me soon
Yours,
Li Hua

Dear Sir£¬
Thank you for invite me to the summer English course in your school. As for your choice between the two courses, prefer the four-week course because of this will allow me more time to do sora traveling and make a few mw friends. Of all the subject I'm teaming at school, I like English best. I had been learning English for eleven years but my spoken English remains poorly, So I real hope to take this chance to improve it. If possible, I'd like to slay with a family for a couple of days in order that I can knew some customs in England- what I'm particularly interested in,I believe I will have wonderful time this summer.
YouR truly,
Grace

In the early 1980s, one of our neighbors asked my mom if she would make a few gift baskets for her [À´Ô´:]to give as gifts for the holidays. My mom agreed and news of the unique gift baskets my mum was making spread like wildfire throughout the neighborhood. My mum was busy throughout the holiday season, so she asked a friend to help her. When the orders continued after the holiday season for baby gifts, birthday gifts and more, it occurred to them that maybe this job could be turned into a business and they did it.
My mum went into her business because she had a creative idea. She got orders and filled orders. But there was no purpose and no real strategy(²ßÂÔ). In 1991, my mum' s partner got into financial trouble and there was not enough money to support either my mum or her partner.
So if you are led by your creativity or enthusiasm, make sure you ask yourself what you want out of your business. If you don't set goals, how will you know what direction to go in? Do you want to create jobs and growth in the economy? Are you looking for a hobby? You can't keep scores if you don' t know what game you are playing.
After my mom's partner gave up, she had to abandon(Å×Æú) her business to support herself. She swore£¨·¢ÊÄ£©she would run a business again and do it differently the next time. However, there wasn't a "next time" for her. She passed away just after her 51st birthday. She never had someone tell her how important having a goal was. She never had an opportunity to be everything that she could be.
There are no right or wrong goals, only the ones that matter to you. Set them so that you can make progress and achieve success, whatever that may mean to you.

Humans have launched themselves into the outer space. They've landed on the moon. They've built habitable space stations that orbit the Earth. The next giant leap for mankind is to reach another planet ¨C specifically, Mars.
The problem is that it's no easy task. The planet is 586 times further away from the Earth than the moon, and it'll take around 180 to 220 days to reach Mars, depending on where each planet is in its orbit. Such long periods in space have suggested many potential health problems, including hormonal changes, skin conditions, and muscle and bone deterioration (ËðºÄ).
Here's where some furry friends come in. A wide range of animals have been in space, from fruit flies and spiders to cats, and dogs. Such experiments began as far back as the late 1940s in first tests to see if living things could withstand the extreme g-force (ÖØÁ¦) of a rocket launch.
Mice continue to play a very important part in space experiments, mainly because the animals make excellent test subjects. They're small, which makes them inexpensive and easy to care for. In addition, their size and short life span make it possible to do the equivalent of several human years of tests in a much shorter time. Finally, because mice are mammals, they share many common characteristics with humans in terms of genetics, biology and behavior.
Astromice have hit the headlines recently, as a team of scientists led by Betty Nusgens, professor of biology at the University of Liege in Belgium, found that the mice suffered a 15 percent thinning of their skin after 91 days aboard the International Space Station (ISS).
This experiment was part of a wider NASA mission (ÈÎÎñ) called the Mice Drawer System (MDS). The Italian Space Agency developed the facility, which allows six mice to be housed, monitored, and automatically fed and watered aboard the ISS, among which three survived during the mission.
The mice have participated in 20 separate experiments, to study such effects as osteoporosis (¹ÇÖÊÊèËÉÖ¢), anemia (ƶѪ) and heart health.
Results for the 20 experiments are coming in gradually. But it's clear that mice continue to play an important role in the ongoing quest to conquer the final frontier.
£¨1£©We can infer from Paragraphs 2-3 that ______.
A.Mars is the farthest planet away from Earth discovered so far
B.animals that have been sent into space have mostly survived
C.it was in the late 1940s that animals were first sent to the ISS
D.the journey to Mars could put humans' health at risk
£¨2£©The underlined word ¡°withstand¡± in Para.3 means _________.
A.set up
B.come across
C.work out
D.hold up
£¨3£©According to Betty Nusgens and her team, the mice aboard the ISS ______.
A.all survived for the duration(ÆÚ¼ä) of the mission
B.suffered the loss of part of their skin
C.were fed and watered by the astronauts
D.participated in 20 experiments that made great breakthroughs
£¨4£©The main purpose of the article is to _____.
A.analyze how mice could pave the way to Mars
B.report on the results of the Mice Drawer System
C.describe the role mice play in scientific research
D.change people's traditional attitudes toward mice

¡¾ÌâÄ¿¡¿¡°How do you account for your remarkable achievements in life?¡±Queen Victoria of the UK asked Helen Keller. ¡°How do you explain the fact that even though you were both blind and deaf, you were able to achieve so much?¡±

Ms.Keller's answer is a tribute£¨Ö¾´£©to her kind teacher.¡°If it had not been for Anne Sullivan, the name of Helen Keller would have remained unknown.¡±

According to speaker Zig Ziglar,Annie Sullivan was no stranger to hardship. She was almost sightless herself and was,at one time, diagnosed as hopelessly ¡°insane¡± by her caregivers. She was locked in the basement of a mental institution.Occasionally,Annie would violently attack anyone who came near. Most of the time she generally ignored everyone in her presence.

An elderly nurse believed there was hope, however, and she made it her work to show love to the child.Every day she visited Annie, and she left cookies for her and spoke words of love and encouragement. She believed Annie could recover,if only she were shown love.

Eventually, doctors noticed the change in the girl.Where they once witnessed anger and hate, they naw noted a gentleness and love. They moved her upstairs where she continued to improve. Then the day finally came when this seemingly ¡°hopeless¡± child was released.

Anne Sullivan grew into a young woman with a desire to help others as she, herself, was helped by the kind nurse. It was she who saw the great potential in Helen Keller. She loved her, disciplined£¨Ô¼Êø£©her, played with her, pushed her and worked with her until the flickering candle that was her life became a beacon£¨µÆËþ£©of light to the world.Anne Sullivan worked wonders in Helen's life;but in was a loving nurse who first believed in Little Annie and lovingly transformed an uncommunicative child into a kind teacher.

Books are for reading, but man must bring to their reading a desire to learn and a power of absorbing. Reading should be active, not passive.
When students first go to a library, they may be at a loss as to what to read of all the different subjects. Well, Bacon tells you to ¡°look at weak places in your armor(¿ø¼×)¡±, and shows you how to fill up the blanks in your knowledge. On the other hand, it is no good just trying to fill your mind with knowledge. Knowledge in itself is often useless. A mind filled with too much knowledge is like a room too full of furniture; a man cannot walk about freely in it, and look out of the windows. It is much better to concentrate on a few subjects which interest you and to deal lightly with the others than to march heavily through the whole range(·¶Î§) of learning, like a silly tourist going through a museum and not missing a single object. If you try to master every subject you may become very wise, but you will be very lonely and you will probably lose all your friends. So you must learn to pick and choose, and you must also learn to look here and there in a library like a camel eating grass on the grassland. If you watch it eating, you will see that although he is supposed to be one of the most stupid animals in the world, he has at least one of the qualities of the cultured man, the power to pick and choose. A student looking for mental food in a library should take the camel as his model.
£¨1£©The writer thinks that one must ___________.
A.read as many books as he can
B.read books on the subjects that interest him
C.read and absorb a lot
D.try to read books on all the different subjects
£¨2£©A cultured man is similar to a camel because __________.
A.neither of them is interested in knowledge
B.both of them have the ability to select
C.neither of them can be considered wise
D.the man reads books as much as a camel eats grass
£¨3£©The term ¡°mental food¡± refers to ____________-.
A.grassland
B.subjects
C.books
D.brain
£¨4£©In the second paragraph the writer mainly discusses___________.
A.how to compare furniture with books
B.why books must be absorbed
C.how to select reading materials
D.why students go to a library
