There is a virtue (美德)in China-Respecting the1and care for the young”. About the above two aspects, we will discuss the former one in this passage.
Why should we2the old? because they are ahead of us in age, in wisdom and in experience. Our elders have done a lot for us, directly or indirectly and most of us 3 everything to their kindness and love.
When we show them respect, whether it is by bowing to them, or 4 them with a smile, or offering them any help they need, it is one way of 5 our own love and gratitude to them. 6, elders have also been through all the years you are 7 and know a little more about the world than you do.
It is 8 that you do not agree with the belief of your elders, but this is nothing new. All younger generations have always 9 with their elders and it is these differences that bring changes in human 10. However much you disagree with them, give them credit for their 11.
With changing times and 12 influences, youngsters no longer know what is interpreted as disrespect to elders. Youngsters should 13 express their views and if there are arguments, they should not 14 their voices.
If there is no space on sofas or chairs, children will immediately 15 their places, and sit on the carpet. In buses and trains, youngsters are 16 to give up their places to older people. This is not a 17 of who has more rights. It is simply that those who are younger have the strength to bear 18, or tolerate unpleasantness, so it is natural to show consideration to those who are older and perhaps at a 19 disadvantage.
When you do simple things as a mark of respect, elders become 20 that youngsters care for them, and they respond with affection and kindness.

In November, Isabel will travel from her home to Clearwater, Florida, to 9 Winter. Clearwater is the site of the aquarium(水族馆)where Winter has lived since she was 10 from that trap.
According to the Kitsap Sun, the meeting was set up by the man who designed Winter’s artificial tail—Kevin Carroll. Carroll also 11 artificial limbs for people.
He and Isabel 12 met last month in Bremerton, Washington, at the 13 where she got her artificial leg, which freed her of the 14 that had troubled her for years. 15 Carroll met Isabel and found out she wants to be a veterinarian (兽医), he decided to set up the meeting.

And she no longer feels so 19 . “I think it’s pretty cool,” Isabel told Kitsap Sun reporter Chris Henry. “Winter has an artificial tail. That makes me think that I’m not the only 20 one. There are thousands more.”

Dear Seth,
You’re only three years old, and at this point in your life you can't read, much less understand what I’m going to try to tell you in this letter. But I've been thinking a lot about the life that you have 1 you, about my life so far as I 2 on what I've learned, and about my role as a dad in trying to prepare you for the 3 that you will face in the coming years.
Be thankful. You are at a wonderful 4 of life. You have still many wonderful stages of life, but they are not without their costs and 5. I hope to help you along your path by sharing some of the best of 6 I've learned. As with any advice, take it with a grain of 7. What works for me 8 not work for you.
Life can be cruel. There will be people in your life 9 won't be very nice. They'll laugh at you because you're different, or for no good 10. They might try to bully you 11 hurt you.
There's not much you can do about these people except 12 to deal with them, and learn to choose friends who are kind to you, who 13 care about you, who make you feel good about yourself. When you find friends like this, 14 them, treasure them, spend time with them, be kind to them and love them.
There will be 15 when you meet with disappointment instead of success. Life won’t always 16 the way you want. This is just another thing you’ll have to learn to deal with. But instead of letting these things get you down, push on, 17 disappointment and learn to persevere and to pursue your dreams 18 pitfalls. Learn to turn negatives into positives, and you’ll do much better in 19. You will also face heartbreak and abandonment by those you love. I hope you don’t have to face this too much, but it happens. Again there is not much you can do but to heal, and to move on with your life. Let these pains become stepping stones to better things in life, and learn to use them to make you 20.
