【题目】阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。
A
Kate Hashimoto was picking up a few groceries at the Upper West Side Food Emporium when she ran into a friend. “Hey Kate, do you like wraps? Here's a chicken wrap," her pal said. “But be careful, it's kind of wet.” They weren't in the food store. They were in front of the store, digging through three overflowing trash bins.
Hashimoto Dumpster-dives(拾荒) for all her food, doesn't use toilet paper or do laundry, and hasn't bought makeups in 10 years. She doesn't have to live this way — she's an employed CPA(注册会计师). “I've always been money-saving, but it was when I was fired that I became extreme,” Hashimoto explained. “No job is guaranteed, so I live as if I could be fired at any time.”
Manhattan, she said, is a gold mine for dumpster divers. “Consumers in wealthy areas expect their products to be perfect, so upscale stores throw out a lot of items that are still good. “New York can be the most expensive place to live, but it can also be the least expensive if you know how to work the system.”
Hashimoto let the reporter of a newspaper spend a day with her learning how to work the system. She lives in Harlem, where she bought a studio in 2010 and paid it off in nine months, but walks down to the Upper West Side three times a week for good, free food. Her other money-saving methods include using soap to wash herself after using the toilet, taking surveys online to earn gift cards, participating in medical trials, testing products for free samples, cutting her own hair, washing her clothes while she showers, and running to work to avoid using subway. “I was very angry about the latest round of subway fare rises,” she said.
Hashimoto does have her limits. Her furniture is a collection of found free gifts— but she won't take an old mattress for fear of bedbugs, and sleeps instead on used yoga mats. And she won't stay in a relationship with a boyfriend for free meals. “I've been in a relationship where I stayed because I was getting free gifts, but I got out of it,” she says. “It's better to be single and dumpster-diving than to be with someone you can't stand.”
(1)The author mentions Kate's friend at the beginning to ______.
A.show there are too many dumpster divers
B.introduce the topic of the text
C.show they have the same lifestyle
D.show the close relationship between them
(2)The underlined word “upscale”(in Para.3) is closest in meaning to_______.
A.large
B.high-class
C.faraway
D.comfortable
(3)How does the author develop the fourth paragraph?
A.Offering the sufferings of Kate.
B.Making comparisons.
C.Discussing the high living cost in New York.
D.Providing details of Kate's daily life.

All of us know the old saying “Practice make perfect.” It tells us unless we want to realize our aim, we should practise and one day we will make it. It's easy to understand. Once I wanted to learn swimming. At first I found difficult to control my body. I just sank into the water. I feel very frightened. Then I watched others who were good at them and asked them the key to succeed. I went to the swimming pool every day, learned from them and practiced. A day, when my friend pushed me into the swimming pool, I sudden found that I could swim. How exciting I was! Now I can swim much more better than before.

【题目】(不多于3个单词)或括号内单词的正确形式。
A lecturer was giving a lecture to his students on stress management. He raised a glass of water and asked the audience, “How heavy do you think this glass of water is?” The students' answers ranged from 20g to 500g. It doesn't matter on the absolute (weigh). It depends on how long you hold . If I hold it for a minute, it is OK. If I hold it for an hour, I'll have ache in my right arm. If I hold it for a day, you will have to call an ambulance. It's the exact same weight, but the (long) I hold it, the heavier it becomes. If we carry our burdens the time, sooner or later, we won't be able to carry on, the burden (become) increasingly heavier. What you've to do is to put the glass down, rest for a while before holding it up again. We have to put down the burden periodically, so that we can (refresh) and are able to carry on.
you return home from work tonight, put the burden of work . Don't carry it back home. You can pick it up tomorrow. Whatever burdens you're having now on your shoulders, let it down a moment if you can. Life is short, enjoy it!

【题目】根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Four Habits to Help You Succeed
We all want to succeed, whether it's in losing weight or learning the guitar. For those who have tried and failed, success seems difficult to understand. Why does one person succeed where another person fails?
Identify your core values.
Finding your core values is in line with creating inner motivation. Pick a handful of things and actually write them down. Remind yourself of your values every day, and reflect on whether you are honoring those values through your work.
Pick a goal and focus on it.
Choose one goal to start something large enough that will give you a sense of accomplishment, while adjusting well to your core values. Focus is key here. If you perform many tasks at a time, you might never complete your projects because they will take far too long.
Set a deadline for success.
Set a date for success. Identify when you hope to achieve your goal. By setting a time limit, you are making the process more real.

Failure can't be avoided when you take risks, by its very definition, the desire to succeed means you are risking failure. Many people tend to give up far too early. Don't fall into this trap! Remember your mindset earlier. Know it will happen. A failure is merely you working out the details, and learning what works and what doesn't. Use failure. Treat it as a good thing, and march on!
A. The more focused you are on one goal, the higher chance you have of success.
B. Make the right decision.
C. I've made a list of four habits to help set goals and achieve them.
D. Stick to your goal.
E. Keep it realistic, while not giving you too much time.
F. Sit and reflect on what you value most.
G. Push yourself to be courageous, and take the next step.

【题目】阅读下列短文,从所给的四个选项中,选出最佳选项。
D
Friends play an important part in our lives, and although we may take friendship for granted, we often don't clearly understand how we make friends. While we get on well with a number of people, we are usually friends with only a very few---for example, the average among students is about 6 per person. In all the cases of friendly relationships, two people like one another and enjoy being together, but beyond that, the degree of intimacy(亲密) between them and the reasons for the shared interests vary enormously. As we get to know people, we take into account things like age, race, economic conditions, social position, and intelligence. Although these factors are not of prime importance, it is more difficult to get on with people when there is a marked difference in age and background.
Some friendly relationships can be kept on argument and discussion, but it is usual for close friends to have similar ideas and beliefs, to have attitudes and interests in common ---they often talk about “being on the same wavelength.” It generally takes time to reach this point. And the more intimately involved people become, the more they rely on one another. People want to do friends favors and hate to break a promise. Equally, friends have to learn to put up with annoying habits and try to tolerate differences of opinion.
In contrast with marriage, there are no friendship ceremonies to strengthen the association between two persons. But the supporting and understanding of each other that results from shared experiences and emotions does seem to create a powerful bond, which can overcome differences in background, and break down barriers of age, class or race.
(1)According to the author, ____.
A.all those who get on well with each other are friends
B.friends are closer than people who just get on with each other
C.everyone understands clearly how to make friends
D.every student has 6 friends
(2)In paragraph 2, “being on the same wavelength” means ____.
A.using the same frequency while taking
B.keeping the same friendly relationship as other people do
C.having similar ideas, beliefs, attitudes and interests
D.having the same background
(3)Which of the following is not implied in the passage?
A.Even friends may have differences of opinion.
B.Friends never argue with each other.
C.It generally takes time for people to become close friends.
D.Someone’s habits may annoy his friends.
(4)To strengthen friendly relationship, people ____.
A.must hold friendship ceremonies
B.have to eliminate(消除) differences in background
C.should make friends with those who are of the same age and of the same race
D.should support and understand each other through shared experiences and emotions

【题目】阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D项中,选出最佳选项。 When one of your car tires goes flat, there are two things you can do, you can complain and change it or, if you don't have a spare, stand helplessly beside the road and hope someone comes to your rescue. Now comes a third choice, called Quick wheel. It is designed to get disabled motorists rolling again as quickly as possible.
Quick wheel is basically a tiny emergency trailer-complete with three tough little wheels of its own-that supports the flat tire and enables the motorist to drive to a service station without losing much time or expending much energy. The product is made in the Netherlands but is owned and marketed by a US company, Quick wheel Inc. of Greenwich, Connecticut. According to the firm's president, Robert Bockweg, the product meets each of the major worries that customers relate with flat tires: safety, lost time and physical labor.
To use it, motorists simply unfold the product to its fully extended position, set it in front of the disabled tire, drive the car onto the Quick wheel's ramp(斜板) and fix a special safety strap over the tire. The tire is then locked, or cradled, in Quick wheel's metal frame. Its three wheels do the rest of the work. According to Quick wheel Inc, its product can be driven "for miles" at the speed of up to 45 miles per hour "without any noticeable change in the vehicle's braking (车辆刹车) or steering operation". The company also says that it can be used on just about any type of car, jeep, mini-van or trailer (拖车).
Bockweg says that Quickwheel will be sold first in the United States, at a price of $150. Sales agreements now being talked over should make the product ready for use in Japan, Canada and Western Europe in the near future. (words: 314 ; time :5ms)

A.Motorists who can't walk.

B.Motorists who have disabilities.
C.Drivers who can't drive on because of a flat tire.

(2)According to the information in the passage, Quickwheel ________ .
A.can be used to replace a flat tire
B.provides a kind of support to the flattire for a short time
C.is able to move as quickly as a wheel
D.is as changeable and lasting as an ordinary wheel
(3)It is suggested but not clearly stated that Quickwheel ________ .
A.can't be used in place of a tire overlong distances

B.will be used first in the US
C.can be folded and unfolded
D.performs well over various kinds of road surfaces
(4)The main purpose of writing this text is to ________ .
A.announce a business agreement
B.share information about flat tire changing
C.introduce the advantages of a new tire
D.introduce a new product-Quick-wheel
