    Five days later, the tragic(悲剧的,悲惨的) news spread throughout Britain — Titanic, which was on her maiden(首次的) voyage on April 14,1912, had sunk, taking hundreds of lives with it. The Clark family should have been on that ship, but because the son had been bitten by a dog, they were left behind.
