Strange things were happening in the  51 in northeast Hebei Province. For three days the   52  in the village wells rose and fell. Farmers noticed that the well walls had deep  53  in them. In 1883，an engineer named John Roebling intended to build a bridge connecting New York with the Long Island.  36 ，experts throughout the world thought it impossible and not  37  .
