Last Friday my brother and I were driving home and had a fun conversation. So absorbed in our talk, my brother took a wrong turn.
Unfortunately, the wrong turn took us towards a  31 , and we had no way to turn  32 . __33 my brother paid the bridge fee and drove on. He was greatly  34 by his mistake and the needless   35  of $4.
We eventually reached an exit, and as we took it, my brother noticed a young fellow  36 over to the side. He came out of his car and tried to  37 someone. I was busy trying to   38 which way we would go next, but my brother stopped and asked the guy if he needed any  39 And he did. He had a flat tire and needed a tool to get it off.
My brother gave him a wrench（扳手）, and then helped him  40 the flat. The young man said that this had been a  41 week for him: earlier he had gotten into a minor car  42 , and now this tire was flat on his way home from work. But he called us “a breath of fresh air’’ and kept   43  us because he really would have been   44  if we hadn’t come along.
After we had finished the job, he thanked us again and pulled out $20 to give us. “No,” my brother said. “We were never  45 to even get on that bridge. We took a wrong turn. But now we know  46  we did. It was to help you. Thank you for turning our mistake into a（n）  47 to serve.”

Parents’ blessing will play a great part in the growth of their children. My father wrote me a valuable letter before his death, one part of which always  36 . “I know you will do  37 great that will set you among the very best one day in the future.”

Remember to give your children  52   to succeed. If you don’t have children, then write a letter to someone who 53 you. They are waiting for you to believe in them. Trust me, love will be 54  real and their belief in themselves will be greater if you write the words on their hearts: “  55  ! You will do something great.” Not having that blessing from someone they love may be the only thing holding them back.

I stood up and walked between the tables. When I came to the biggest computer, I saw a thin, small man     40   in front of it. "I'm Steve", he finally answered after I asked him a couple of times what his name was. "I can't talk with you. I'm     41   ", he said. He was chatting online with somebody--probably someone he didn't know--and, at the same time, he was playing a computer game--a war game. I was surprised. Why didn't Steve want to talk with me? I tried     44    to speak to that computer geek (怪人),     45   not a word came out of his mouth. I touched his shoulder, but no reaction（反应）. I was     46   . I put my hand in front of the monitor, and he started to shout, "    47   !"
I took a few steps back, wondering if all those people in the café were looking at me. I     ___48   , and saw nobody showed any interest.

In the clinic, I asked if Michael could be retested, so the specialist tested him again. To my ___1___, it was the same score.
Later that evening, I ___2___ told Frank what I had learned that day. After talking it over, we agree that we knew our ___3___ much better than an IQ test. We ___4___ that Michael’s score must have been a ___5___ and we should treat him ___6___ as usual.
We moved to Indiana in 1962, and Michael studied at Concordia High School in the same year. He got ___7___ grades in the school, especially ___8___ biology and chemistry, which was a great comfort.

Several years ago, while attending a communication course, I experienced a most unusual process. The instructor asked us to list__36__ in our past that we felt __37__ of, regretted, or incomplete about and read our lists aloud.

Then the man next to me raised his hand and volunteered this story: “Making my__43__, I remembered an incident from high school. I grew up in a small town. There was a Sheriff __44__ of us kids liked. One night, my two buddies（同伴） and I decided to play a __45__ on him.
After drinking a few beers, we climbed the tall water tank in the middle of the town, and wrote on the tank in bright red paint: Sheriff Brown is a s.o.b. (畜生). The next day, almost the whole town saw our glorious __46__. Within two hours, Sheriff Brown had us in his office. My friends told the truth but I lied. No one __47__ found out.”
“Nearly 20 years later, Sheriff Brown’s name __48__ on my list. I didn’t even know if he was still __49__. Last weekend, I dialed the information in my hometown and found there was a Roger Brown still listed. I tried his number. After a few __50__, I heard, “Hello?” I said, “Sheriff Brown?” Paused. “Yes.” “Well, this is Jimmy Calkins.”
“And I want you to know that I did it.” Paused. “I knew it!” he yelled back. We had a good laugh and a __51__ discussion. His closing words were: “Jimmy, I always felt bad for you __52__ your buddies got it off their chest, but you were carrying it __53__ all these years. I want to thank you for calling me...for your sake.”
Jimmy inspired me to __54__all 101 items on my list within two years, and I always remember what I learned from the course: It’s never too late to __55__the past wrongdoings.

My husband and I insisted that our children were old enough to clean their rooms and make their beds. But they thought   1 . One day when they were at school, I spent some time tidying their rooms. Sometimes the Room Fairy would propose a little   14 : “If you can finish your homework and go over your lessons before dinner, I’d like to watch a particular television program with you tonight.” Sometimes some colored markers or other little items would be left in   15  of well-done jobs the day  16 .
 17  I can’t remember how long “the Room Fairy” continued leaving her love notes. When they were age appropriate, we used various versions of Post-Its （贴条）. The bathroom mirror became the  18  centre of our home. Appointments, notices about visiting relatives, lesson schedules, and changes in plans could be  19 .
We all benefited from and   20  the idea of sharing reminders and daily details of life through notes. I believe the true advantage of the Room Fairy notes survives in our frequent and enjoyable communication．

My father brought home a sailboat when I was ten, and almost each Sunday in summers we would go sailing. Dad was quite skilled in sailing, but not good at ___36___. As for me, I ___37___ both before twelve because of living close to Lake Ontario.

I really love my job because I enjoy working with small children and like the challenges and awards from the job. I also think my work is important. There was a time when I thought I would never have that sort of   36  .
I wasn’t an excellent student because I didn’t do much schoolwork. In my final term I started thinking   37  I might do and found I didn’t have much to  38  . I just accepted that I wasn’t the type to have a career. I then found myself a job, looking after two little girls. It wasn’t too bad at first, but the  39 began when I agreed to   40 , so that I would be there if my 41 had to go out for business in the evening. We  42  that if I had to work extra hours one week, she’d give me off the next. But  43  , it didn’t often work out. When I met him, I had a lot of anger inside of me．I never had a father, though in my neighborhood that's not  31 ．I know some kids just like me．You have to  32 yourself．
There are fights and killings all the time．I have friends who ended up in jail or pregnant．1 could have ended up that way, too, but Mr. Clark and my mom 33 let that happen.
Mr. Clark worked long hours, making sure I did my work．My grades rose．In fact, I did so well that in sixth grade, I entered the  34 class, and Mr．Clark was the teacher．I felt so  35 to have him for a second year!
He took our class to see The Phantom of the Opera．Before the show, he 36 us to dinner at a restaurant and taught us not to talk with our mouths full．We didn't want to let him 37 , so we listened to him attentively.
  38 of us were surprised when Mr．Clark was selected as Disney's 2000 Teacher of the Year．When he learned he'd won, he said he would 39 three names out of a hat; he would go to Los Angeles to get the 40 with those students．But 41 it came time to draw names, Mr．Clark said, "You're all going."
He got 42 to fly all 37 of us out to Disneyland in California and put us up at the Hilton．People were 43 , but Mr．Clark really cared about us．There's no way I can 44 most teachers doing that．No way．But he saw something in us that nobody else saw.
On graduation day, there were a lot of tears．We didn't want his class to 45 ．In my new school year, we were all happy when Mr．Clark  46 in our class once again．He's been a  47 in our lives.
In 2003, Mr．Clark took some of us on a trip to South Africa to 48 school supplies and visit orphanages．It was the most amazing 49 of my life．It's now my 50 to one day start a group of women's clubs, helping people from all backgrounds.
