As we know, it is very important that a firm should pay attention to the training of its staff(全体职员) as there exist many weak parts in its various departments. Staff training must have a purpose, which is defined when a firm considers its training needs, which are in turn based on job descriptions and job specifications (规范).
A job description should give details of the performance that is required for a particular job, and a job specification should give information about the behaviour, knowledge and skills that are expected of an employee who works in the position. When all of this has been collected, it is possible to make a training specification. This specifies(详细说明) what the Training Department must teach for the successful performance of the job, and also the best method to use in the training period.
There are many different training methods, and there am advantages and disadvantages in all of them Successful training programmes depend on an understanding of the difference between learning about skills and the training in using them It is frequently said that learning about skills takes place“off the job”, in the classroom, but training in using these skills takes place“on the job”by means of such activities as practice in the workshop.
It is always difficult to evaluate the costs and savings of a training programme. The success of a programme depends not only on the methods used but also on the quality of the staff who do the training. A company can often check savings in time and cost by examining the work performed by the workers and technicians who have completed a training programme. The evaluation of management training is much more complex(复杂)than that.

Most young people enjoy some forms of physical activities. It may be walking, cycling or swimming, or in winter, skating or skiing. It may be a game of some kind, football, hockey (曲棍球) , golf, or tennis, it may be mountaineering.
Those who have a passion(热情、激情) for climbing high and difficult mountains are often looked upon with astonishment (惊讶、惊异). Why are men and women willing to suffer cold and hardship, and to take risks on high mountains? This astonishment is caused probably by the difference between mountaineering and other forms of activity to which men give their leisure.
Mountaineering is a sport and not a game. There are no man-made rules, as there are for such games as golf and football, There are, of course, rules of a different kind, which would be dangerous to ignore, but it is this freedom from man-made rules that makes mountaineering attractive to many people, Those who climb mountains are free to use their own methods.
If we compare mountaineering with other more familiar sports, we might think that one big difference is that mountaineering is not a“game”. We would be mistaken in this assumption There are ,it is true, no“matches”between“teams”of climbers, but when climbers are on a rock face linked by a rope on which their lives may depend, there is obviously teamwork.
The mountain climber knows that he may have to fight forces that are stronger and more powerful than man. He has to fight the forces of nature. His sport requires high mental and physical capacities.
A mountain climber continues to improve in skill year after year. A skier is probably past his prime by the age of thirty, and most international tennis champions are in their early twenties. But it is not unusual for a man of fifty or sixty to climb the highest mountains in the Alps. They may take more time than younger men, but they probably climb with more skill and less wasted effort, and they certainly experience equal enjoyment.
1.Mountaineering is a sport which involves ________ .

3.Mountaineering is also a team sport because ________.
[ ]

The space shuttle Columbia flared and broke up in the skies over Texas on Saturday, February 1,2003, killing the seven astronauts on board in what NASA and President Bush called a tragedy for the entire nation. NASA launched an investigation into the disaster and began searching for the astronauts'remains. It said that although there had been some data failures, it was too early to nail down a precise cause. The break-up, 16 minutes before the shuttle was due to land at Kennedy Space Center in Florida, spread possibly toxic debris (有毒的残骸) over a wide swath of Texas and neighboring states.
Dramatic television images of the shuttle's descent clearly showed several white trails (痕迹) streaking through blue skies after the shuttle suddenly fell apart. It was almost 17 years to the day that the Challenger shuttle exploded on Jan 28, 1986, killing all seven astronauts on board. Take-off and reentry into Earth's atmosphere are the most dangerous parts of a space mission. In 42 years of US' human space flight, there had never been an accident in the descent to Earth or landing. Challenger exploded just after take-off.
Rescue teams scrambled to search for the remains of the crew, which included the first lsraeli to fly on the shuttle, former combat pilot Collan Ramon. There were warnings that parts of a vast 120-milelong corridor of debris could be toxic because of poisonous rocket propellant (推进器).
“We are not ready to confirm that we have found any human remains”, Nacogdoches County Sheriff Thomas Kerrs said He added that among the roughly 1,000 calls reporting debris, some people said they had found remains of crew members.
“The Columbia is lost. There are no survivors,……Their mission was almost complete and we lost them so close to home……America's space program will go on,”said a grim-faced Bush in a message broadcast on television, which included condolences (吊慰) to the families of the dead astronauts.

E-mail can be a powerful new tool in improving communication(交流) between patients and doctors, according to one expert.
“Using the Internet, doctors can answer more questions from more patients in a shorter time,” writes Dr. Basal Pal, a famous doctor in Manchester, UK. According to Pal, nearly 40% of American patients say they used E-mail to communicate with a doctor in the past.
He notes, however, that although patients have such interest, only up to 2% of doctors in the United States offer E-mail service.
Using E-mail, doctors can make sure of their advice and point patient to patient information materials and other resources on the Internet. It's said that more than 10,000 health-oriented websites (网站) already exist now.
However, some people worry that widespread use of medical E-mail might set up two kinds of care-one for Internet “haves” and the other for the “have-nots”.
But Pal points out that “by the year 2002 nearly every library will offer Internet and E-mail services in the United States”. That allows even low-income patients to use such means. Pal also talks about other possible barriers to the acceptance of medical E-mail.
“Doctors may be unwilling to offer E-mail services for fear of increasing workload (工作量) and uncertainty about payment (付款) for the time they spent,” he explained, “ and patients may worry that their medical information might be read by others.” But these problems can all be solved,” he adds.
“E-mail may help us a lot in health care, ” Pal concludes. “Patients want to know more than they can get in normal clinics,” he points out, “and they might find communication on the information superhighway (超级公路) less fearful than face-to-face dialogue, with their doctors.”
