The famous scientist Albert Einstein died in 1955.His  1¡¡¡¡ now is in the central state of Kansas of the U.S. It belongs to a retired (ÍËÐݵÄ)  2¡¡¡¡ doctor, Thomas Harvey.   3    did this happen? And why?

In the 1950s,Albert Einstein and Thomas¡¡Harvey    4   each other when they both lived in Princeton, New Jersey. It was then that he started to study ¡¡¡¡7   has become a long time examination of Einstein¡¯s brain. His goal was to ¡¡¡¡8   some physical evidence(Ö¤¾Ý)of the scientist¡¯s genius(²Å»ª)¡£

Doctor Harvey,    9   ,did not tell Einstein¡¯s family that he ¡¡¡¡10   the great man¡¯s brain. It was only later    11   the family learned of Doctor Harvey¡¯s work. They did not   12    the idea at first. After Doctor Harvey explained his idea to them, they agreed to ¡¡¡¡13   him to study the brain Doctor Harvey then asked    14   scientists to help. They cut the brain    15   three pieces. They marked each piece before placing it in containers   16¡¡¡¡ chemical formaldehyde(¼×È©)to protect it. Doctor Harvey has been ¡¡¡¡17   Einstein¡¯s brain since then. He has carried it with him as he moved from place to place. He has also lent parts of the brain to other scientists    18   study.

Only one researcher has found something    19    . A doctor at the University of California found that the left part of Einstein¡¯s brain has more certain cells(ϸ°û)than ¡¡¡¡20   .Such cells are known to feed brain. She said this may mean that the cells could affect intelligence.

In Mr. Allen¡¯s high school class, all the students have to ¡°get married¡±. However, the wedding ceremonies (ÒÇʽ) are not real ones but imitations (Ä£Äâ). These ceremonies sometimes become so noisy that the loud laughter   1   out the voice of the ¡°minister¡±.  2   the two students getting married often begin to laugh quietly.

The teacher, Mr. Allen, believes that marriage is a difficult and   3   business. He wants young people to understand that there must be many   4   after marriage. He believes that the   5   for these psychological and financial adjustments(ÐÄÀíºÍ²ÆÕþµ÷½Ú) should be understood before people   6   .

Mr. Allen doesn¡¯t only   7   his students to major problems faced   8   marriage such as illness or unemployment. He also lets them know the   9   problems they will face every day. He wants young people to know about all the difficulties and troubles that can throw marriage to the   10   point. He even familiarizes his students with the problems of divorce (Àë»é) and the   11   that divorced men must pay child   12   money for their children and sometimes pay monthly some money to their   13  .

It has been nervous for some of the students   14   the problems that a married couple often faces.  15   they took the course, they had not felt much   16   about the problems of marriage.  17  , both students and parents feel that Mr. Allen¡¯s course is   18   and have supported the   19   publicly. Their statements and letters supporting the class have made the school more firmly believe that it¡¯s necessary to   20  the course again.

Sailors long ago were often afraid that if they sailed too far from home they would fall off the   1   of the flat ocean. In the   2   ,many people had to trust the words of   3   ,for they have no way to gather  4   for themselves. Today, we can fly in airplanes high over the   5   and see the curve(ÇúÏß) that proves its roundness. Astronauts flying miles high can send us   6   that support our beliefs. Most people now   7   the fact that the earth is certainly not flat.   8   many of them don¡¯t realize that it¡¯s not exactly  9   either.

A mathematician, Ann Eckels Bailie, used computers to gather information to   10   in planning space flights. During   11  work of tracking the second US satellite, Vanguard I, she discovered some facts that didn¡¯t  12   to make sense. It appeared that the perigee(or point nearest to the earth) satellite orbit(¹ìµÀ) measured a different   13   from the northern hemisphere(°ëÇò) of our earth than from the   14   hemisphere. At first, she thought these strange   15  were because of some mathematical mistakes. But Bailie wouldn¡¯t   16   the idea that important new information had been   17  .She and other scientists discussed the   18   of the earth again and again.  19   research finally proved that Bailie¡¯s   20   finding was correct.

We spent a day in the country, picking wild flowers.   1   the car full of flowers we were going home. On our way back my wife    2   a cupboard outside a furniture shop. It was tall and narrow. ¡°   3   it,¡± my wife said at once. ¡°We¡¯ll carry it home on the roof rack£¨ÐÐÀî¼Ü£©. I¡¯ve always    4   one like that.¡±

What could I do? Ten minutes later I was $20   5  , and the cupboard    6   onto the roof rack.. It    7   six feet long and eighteen inches square, quite heave, too.

In the gathering darkness I drove slowly. Other drivers seemed unusually    8   that evening. The police even stopped traffic to let us    9  . Carrying furniture was a good idea.

After a time my wife said,¡°There¡¯s a long line of cars   10  . Why don¡¯t they pass us, I wonder?¡±In fact a police car did pass. The two officers inside   11   us seriously as they passed. But then with great kindness, they   12   us through the rush hour traffic. The police car stopped   13   our village church. One of the officers came to me. ¡°Right, sir,¡± he said. ¡°  14 need any more help?¡± I was a bit   15  . ¡°Thanks, officer,¡± I said.¡°You have been very kind. I live   16   beside the road.¡±

Then he   17   our car; first the flowers, then the cupboard. ¡°Well, well,¡± he said, laughing. ¡°It¡¯s a cupboard you¡¯ve got there! We thought it was   18   else.¡±

My wife began to laugh. Then the   19   struck me like a stone between the eyes. I laughed at   20 . ¡°Yes, it¡¯s a cupboard, but thanks.¡± I drove as fast as I could, still thinking over this funny experience.
