Whenever we hear about “the homeless”, most of us think of the Developing world. But the   31  is that homelessness is everywhere. For example, how many of us would expect to see people living on the streets of a   32  country like Germany?
Kurt Muller and his wife Rita have spent eleven years making   33 for the homeless of Berlin, Germany’s capital. They first   34  one long hot summer when most Germans were   35  on holiday. One day I visited an art museum while waiting for my husband to finish a business meeting . I was expecting a quiet   21  of the splendid artwork.

I saw the patience of a young wife describing paintings to a person without   39  and the courage of a husband who would not   40  blindness to change his life. And I saw the love shared by two people as I watched this couple walk away, their arms intertwined.

A man hired a taxi outside the airfield. The cab had a woolen carpet with  26 lace edges. On the glass partition that  27 the driver's seat was a copy of a famous painting. When doing a thing, one makes efforts and wants to see the result. To change others, one has to make twice the  41 but get half the result. To change oneself is the other way round-more fruit with less effort. One had better ask oneself why one makes  42 on others much more than on oneself.   43 you take enough care to do as best you can for other people's sake, your efforts will yield results, If you  44 the inner world of your own, examine yourself and wipe out the dust and dirt, instead of fixing your eyes on other people, you will find a cheerful  45 for yourself and create a pleasant environment for others.

It was the golden season. I could see the yellow leaves falling with the cool wind. For others, it is a/an       season, while for me, it is an annoying season. Tired from preparing for Postgraduate Entrance Examination, I decided to have a       along the Yanjiang Road in my university.

My friend Michelle is blind, but you’d never know it. She makes such good use of her other    , including her “sixth sense”,   she rarely gives the impression she’s missed anything.
Michelle looks after her children pretty much like the rest of us, except that she doesn’t push too hard on them, who really benefit a lot from her relaxed attitude. She knows when to clean the house, she moves around so fast that often the    don't realize she's blind.
I realize this the first time after my six-year-old daughter, Kayla, went to play there. When Kayla came home, she was very   about her day. She told me they had baked cookies, played games and done art projects. But she was   excited about her finger-painting project.
“Mom, guess what?”said Kayla, all smiles. “I learned how to      colors today! Blue and red make purple, and yellow and blue make green! And Michelle      with us.”

At the beginning of my 8：00 a．m．class one Monday at University of Nevada,Las Vegas(UNLV)，I cheerfully asked my students    their weekend had been．“Not been very good”，one young man said．He'd had his wisdom teeth      ．The young man then went on to ask me why I   seemed to be so cheerful．His question reminded me of    I′d read somewhere before：”Every morning when you get up，you have a     about how you want to approach life that day”，I said．“I choose to be cheerful”．

I scanned the 60 faces in the lecture hall．    the early hour,no one seemed to be asleep．Somehow,my story had    them．Or maybe it Wasn’t the story    ．It had all started with a student's      that I Was cheerful．A wise mail once said：”Who you are     louder to me than anything you can say”．I suppose it must  be so．

When I was a law professor, a student reported that I made an error in grading his exam by giving him too many points. He was ______ and after thanking him for his honesty, I changed the ______ in my records. His beaming (欢笑的) face turned to _____. “You’re lowering my grade?” he said angrily. “I would never have come in ______ ……”
He didn’t finish the ______, but it was obvious that his display of honesty was false. He thought he’d have it all—praise and the ______ grade.

To make new friends, the first thing you need to do is to meet up with new people, this should be quite      , as your neighborhood should have a club, school or some other small organizations.
Go there and talk to people.       you get into a social circle or group, making friends is not hard at all.
Look easygoing. You needn’t      in fancy clothes or wear loud make-ups to attract people. Make eye       and smile often; don’t look too nervous and listen to what others have to say.
Accept people the way they are. Nobody is      ; you are not either. Everyone has faults and the way to make friends is by looking at the positive aspects of people. In case you don’t like someone’s behavior, it is better to       them than to create a rivalry (对抗).
Don’t forget old friends. If they have moved away or if you have moved away, be in       through phone calls and emails. Don’t leave old friends for the sake of new ones.

Before our marriage, my wife and I had had dogs separately. Her dog was named Zack, and mine Sam.
After we got married, the dogs lived with us. The first day we brought our daughter home from       after her birth, the dogs       her. They licked(舔) her and rubbed(摩擦)       her, especially Zack. I had to       Zack away from her because it loved her so much that it licked her over and over again. When she      in the cradle（摇篮）, it lay next to her with a paw（爪子）on the side of her cradle. After she grew       , Zack would wait for her on the staircase before she went to bed, then       her to her bed.

At that time, my dog Sam       and walked to my daughter. It pushed her with its paws and then walked up on the staircase. Then she took its collar and they went upstairs.
