Every morning my friend would stop on the way to work to have a quick breakfast with her 8-year-old son. Then she   1  him off at school. They ate the same thing every morning: an egg sandwich, juice, coffee for her, and milk for him.
One day she ordered a(n)   2  breakfast. Once they finished eating and were heading out of the door, she   3 , said good morning to a homeless man sitting outside of the   4 , and gave him the breakfast she had ordered for him. All of my students I taught at Saint Mary’s School in Morris, Minnesota were dear to me, but Mark was one in a million. His happy­to­be­alive attitude made even his occasional naughtiness   31 .

What impressed me so much, though, was his sincere response every time I had to correct him for misbehaving, “Thank you for correcting me, Madam!” I didn’t know what to make of it at first, but before long I became   34  hearing it many times a day.

It was a cold winter day that Sunday. The parking lot to the  1 was filling up quickly. I noticed, as I got out of my car, fellow church members were  2   among themselves as they walked in the church. As I got 3__, I saw a man leaning up against the wall outside the church. Mother used to ask me what the most important part of the body is. Through the years I would  ­­1  ­­­ at the correct answer. When I was younger, I thought  2  very important to us, so I said, “My ears, mum.” She said, “No, many people are  3  . But think about it and I’ll ask you again.”

I’m not disappointed, just a little worried  32  as my roommate said, “Why are you angry with yourself once you  33  to do anything?” I had no idea. The telephone rang in the police station at Richmond, California, US. “  1 station? A train for Santa Fe collided (相撞) a   2 at the McDonald Street Crossing. Please come here at once. With an ambulance(救护车)，too. A man is badly wounded,” said a(n)  3 voice of a young woman.

Right then and there, before the eyes of all the people present, the train collided with the truck heavily and struck it dozens of metres away.
When Randolph Bruce, the driver , was helped out of the damaged truck, he was badly wounded just as the young woman had foretold (预言) on the phone. As he was taken to hospital in time, he was  11 at last. Later the police did whatever they could to  12 the woman who had  13 them, but failed.
It is really  14 that a prophecy(预言) should agree with the fact so  15 .

When I was young, I wanted to be a teacher if I grew up, simply because I wanted to write on the chalkboard! A businessman had been on a long flight between meetings. After a while, a calm voice said, “We shall not be serving the drinks at this time as we are expecting a little turbulence(漩涡). Please be    1   your seat belt is fastened.”

Sometimes she closed her eyes, then she would    10   again; then she would straighten her legs, but worry and fear were not in her    11  . The businessman could hardly believe his eyes. When the plane finally    13   its destination, he asked why she had not been afraid. The child replied, “Because my Daddy’s the pilot, and he’s flying the plane to take me home.”
There are many kinds of storms that    14   us physically, mentally and financially. And many storms can easily and quickly darken our skies and    15   out planes into uncontrollable movement.
Let us remember: Our Father is the pilot. He is in control and taking us home. So don’t worry!

The house next door had been empty for so long that we had quite forgotten what it was to have neighbors.
