　　Spiderman is one of the most famous comic book heroes of all time．He was created by Stan Lee in 1963 and was first introduced to the world in the pages of Marvel comic books．

　　Spiderman's story is the story of Peter Parker,a child who lost his parents and lives with his aunt and uncle．Peter is a shy,quiet boy wearing glasses and has few friends．One day,on a high school class trip to a science lab,he gets bitten by a special spider．Soon Peter realizes he has amazing powers：he is as strong and quick as a spider and also has a type of sixth sense．He no longer needs his glasses and he can use his super power to fly through the city streets!Remembering something his Uncle Ben has told him,that“with great power,there must also come great responsibility(责任),”Peter decides to use his powers to fight enemies who do cruel things to people．And so,Spiderman is born．

　　Life is not easy for Peter even though he is a superhero．He is in love with Mary Jane but cannot tell her about his amazing powers．Besides,his best friend Harry hates Spiderman!Peter is also short of money and time．He has to sell photos of Spiderman(himself!)to a newspaper and he keeps losing his other jobs because he's so busy saving people!Yet he has to fight different kinds of cruel enemies．

　　We spent a day in the country and picked a lot of flowers．Our car was full of flowers inside! On the way home we had to stop at the traffic lights, and there my wife saw the bookshelf．It stood outside a furniture (家具)shop．“Buy it,” she said at once．“We'll carry it home on the roof-rack (车顶架)．I've always wanted one like that．”

　　What could I do? Ten minutes later I was twenty dollars poorer, and the bookshelf was tied onto the roof rack．It was tall and narrow, quite heavy too．

　　As it was getting darker, I drove slowly．Other drivers seemed more polite than usual that evening．The police even stopped traffic to let us through．Carrying furniture was a good idea．

　　After a time my wife said, “There's a long line of cars behind．Why don't they overtake(超车)？”

　　Just at that time a police car did overtake．The two officers (警官)inside looked at us seriously when they went past．But then, with a kind smile they asked us to follow their car through the busy traffic．The police car stopped at our Village church (教堂)．One of the officers came to me．

　　“Right, sir,” he said．“Do you need any more help now?”

　　I didn't quite understand．“Thanks, officer．” I said．“You've been very kind．I live just down the road．”

　　He was looking at our things：First at the flow-ers, then at the bookshelf．“Well, well,” he said and laughed．“It's a bookshelf you've got there! We thought it was-er, something else．”

　　My wife began to laugh．Suddenly I understood why the police drove here．I smiled at the officer, “Yes, it, s a bookshelf, but thanks again．” I drove home as fast as I could．

　　When he was 16, his father seriously said to him, “I'll give you whatever you want before you are 18．But after that, I won't care much about you, and you should give me whatever I want．” When his 18th birthday was coming, the young man began thinking about looking for a job．So he sent resumes(简历)to many companies he liked on the Internet．“But, most got no reply,” he said．“Maybe they were surprised about my elementary school(小学)education．”

　　By chance, one of his friends was looking for someone, who could work as an egg porter(搬运工)in the supermarket, for 0.5 yuan a box．Facing lots of difficulties in getting a job, he said, “I'll take this job．At least I can make some money for my petrol(汽油)．” Then every day, he drove his car, his 18^th birthday gift, to work in the supermarket．He did that for three months．

　　Later, he heard that a newspaper was looking for a network technician(网络技术员), so he asked for it．But they were also worried about his school education．He practiced his skill right in front of the computer, and showed the managers web pages he had designed．He started to work the next day, and became the director of network department in less than a year．

　　And now, the 23-year-old man is a boss．In January 2005, he started a magazine for children, with himself as the editor in chief(主编)．And the only writer was hi s father．

　　One day，Tony was was hit by a car when he was on his way home．He fell and broke his arm．

　　An ambulance(救护车)soon arrived and took Tony to hospital．There a doctor operated on his arm．Then he put his arm in a cast(夹板)．Tony couldn't move it at all．

　　“You must keep your arm in a cast for six weeks．”the doctor said．“That will give the broken bone a chance to heal(愈合)．”

　　At the end of six weeks，Tony went back to the hospital．The doctor cut the cast with a large saw(锯)．Then he took Tony's arm out of the cast．

　　“Can you move your arm．Tony?”he asked．

　　Tony tried to move his arm．At first it was difficult，but soon he was able to move it a little．

　　“Yes，it's fine，”he said．“Thank you very much．”

　　“In a few days，it will be as good as new，”the doctor said．“Just exercise it a little．”

　　“Will I be able to play the guitar?”Tony asked．

　　 The doctor smiled．“Of course you will，”he said．“You will have no problem．”

　　“That is good news，”Tony said，“because I couldn't play it at all before．”
