Ang Lee the director of “Brokeback.Mountain” , won the Best Director Award at the 78th Academy Awards Lee is the first Chinese to receive the honour , considered the highest in American cinema and the most influential worldwide.

“I’m deeply proud of him” , guched Kate Wang , granddaughter of Wang Dulu , whose marual arts novel inspired lee’s “Crouching Tiger , Hidden Dragon” in 2000.

“Ang Lee’s movie is very touching. It’s simple but perfect , ” commented Zhang Yuan , a Chinese film director of the “Sixth Generation” “I sincerely congratulate him.He is the pride of all Chinese directors everywhere”

Despite the Best Director Award , the film “Brokeback Mountain” lost to “Crash” in the Best Picture. It was widely seen as an upset because “Brokeback” had been winning all kinds of prizes , from the Golden Bear in Venice , to the Golden Globe and the Independent Spirit Awards , and was seen by most observers as shoo - in for the highest Oscar.

An anonymous (匿名的) posting on Sina com summed up what many moviegoers expressed in one way or another , “Now that Ang Lee has got all the big international awards , Zhang Yimou and Chen Kaige need not compete for the title of No.1 Chinese Director anymore”

Other voices were less congratulatory.Dayyan Eng , a Chinese American who started his filmmaking career in Beijing , did not think “Brokeback” is as good as “The Ice Storm” an Ang Lee film from 1997.

Liu Miaomiao , a director of independent films , rationalized that Hollywood would not give the top award to “Brokeback” because of political reasons.

Sai Ren , a film critic with CCTV6 , a film channel , noted that Lee’s achievement had little to do with Chinese cinema. He suggested that people watch the show just to enjoy it.

                                                       Get Independence by Ourselves
The passage is mainly about a father's accompanying his son studying at his university. What makes us
puzzled is that his son is a postgraduate. In most people's opinion, a university student is old e nough to look
after himself.
I can't understand the father at all. And I am against his idea and action because his son is a postgraduate
and old enough to deal with all the difficulties by himself. All parents should allow their children to face the
reality and win the independence.
I think independence is important for children. After all, we all will grow up and face the reality by
ourselves. Life is really tough and we will face all kinds of difficulties. We must be independent to solve the
problems. So we should develop our independence from young. After all parents can't accompany us all the
time.
Certainly all children are facing problems and all parents would like to do all for them. But I think children
should get their inde pendence by themselves and only in this way can they face the real- ity on their own.
Reading is very important to help you learn English. To learn as much as you can from reading, you need to
read different kinds of English. This book provides not only different kinds of English but also a good way to
check your reading ability.
There are four parts in the book:
Part 1 is Messages: In this part somebody wants to send infor mation in writing to somebody else.
There is a test on timetables and a test on text messages.
Part 2 is People: In this part all the tests are about people. For example, there is an informal letter between
friends. There is formal (正式的) English in biography (传记). There is a job application as a model to help
with your writing, as well as testing your reading.
Part 3 is Places: In this part, too, many different kinds of Eng- lish are shown, some informal and some
formal. There is the informal English of a holiday postcard. There is also the formal English in a letter of
complaint.
Part 4 is Things: You will find some descriptive writing in this part. There are descriptions of clothes and
of a computer.
You can do these tests in any order you like, or you can do all the tests with a formal or informal text.
I enjoyed writing this book and I hope you enjoy using it.

London—Lazy students can now give up on work altogether as two Oxford University students have made scores of A-grade essays(论文)on the website for students to copy.

The essays are on the new website,“revise.it.”

The website includes an “Essay Lab”designed to make cheating(舞弊)as effective and effortless as possible.

Its homepage announces to surfers(网上冲浪者):“The revise.it Essay Lab is a bank of hundreds of A-Level essays covering popular topics.”

“Next time you are asked to write an essay, why not see what we have on the subject—if you are in a lazy state of mind you can even use our guide to writing the essays and then just hand them in.”

Nick Rose and Jordan Mayo, both 19 and first from Manchester, spent much of their first year as students at the university setting up the website. There is no charge for downloading the essays.

“I have never been very good at essay writing,”Rose admitted.“We don’t see essay bank as a cheating way. It’s a surprising valuable resource. You can learn a lot by reading other people’s work on the subject.”

Among other tips, the website suggests inventing important speeches to give essays extra weight:“Popular people to quote(引用)are Douglass Hurd or Disraeli.”

Hurd was a foreign secretary in the 1980s and Disraeli was a 19th century prime minister.

Teachers are expressing their opinions by e-mail that they are angry about the website that “encourages students to cheat”,but students disagree.

According to Rose:“Exams are a fight. It’s us against them.”
