We lived in a very quiet neighborhood. One evening I heard a loud crash in the street. 36 that evening my wife had asked me to go to the store to get some soft drinks. It seemed like this would be a good time to let my teenage daughter Holly 37  her driving, so I sent her to the store in my truck.
At dinner my son talked about how much he liked my  38 . I enjoyed having it, but I said: “Guy, my heart is not set on that truck. I like it but it is just metal and won’t last forever. Never set your heart on anything that won’t last.
After hearing the loud noise, the whole family ran outside. My son shouted: “ Dad! Dad, Holly crashed your truck.”
My heart sank and my mind was 39 with conflicting thoughts. Was anyone hurt? Who else was involved? As I ran to the door, I heard a voice in my heart say: “Here is a chance to show Holly 40  you really love. She’ll never forget it.”
The accident had occurred in my own driveway. Holly had crashed my truck into our other vehicle, the family van (搬运车). In her inexperience, she had  41 _the brakes and the gas pedal. Holly was unhurt  42  but when I reached her, she was crying and saying:“Oh, Dad, I’m sorry. I know how much you love this truck.” I held her in my arms as she cried.
Later that week a friend stopped by and asked what had happened to my truck. I told her the whole story. Her eyes moistened(湿润) and she said: “That happened to me when I was a girl. I borrowed my dad’s car and  43 a log that had fallen across the road. I ruined the car. When I got home my Dad knocked me to the ground and began to kick me.”
Over 40 years later, she still felt the pain of the night. It was a deep wound on her  44 .
I remember how sad Holly was the night she crashed our truck, and how I comforted her. One day, when Holly  45  on her life, I want her to know that I love her a thousand times more than any piece of  46 .
I repaired the van, but the dent(凹陷) in my truck is still there today. Every day it reminds me of what really 47  in my life.

A few weeks after my first wife, Georgia, was called to heaven, I was cooking dinner for my son and myself. For a   36 , I had decided on frozen peas. As I was cutting open the bag, it  37  from my hand and crashed to the floor. The peas, like marbles,   38 everywhere. I tried to use a broom, 39 with each sweep they just rolled across the kitchen.
For the next week, every time I was in the   40 , I found a pea---in a corner, or behind a table leg. They kept   41  . Eight months later I pulled out the refrigerator to clean behind it, and  42  12 frozen peas hidden underneath.
At the time I found those few remaining  43 , I was in a new relationship with a wonderful  44  I’d met in a support group. After we married, I was reminded  45  those peas under the refrigerator, and realized that my   46  had been like that bag of frozen peas. It had shattered. My wife had died; I was in a new city with a busy job, and with a son having trouble   47  his new surroundings and the 48  of his mother. I was a bag of spilled frozen peas; my life had come apart and scattered.
When life gets you   49  , when everything you know comes apart, and when you think you’ll never  50  , remember that it’s just a bag of scattered frozen peas. The peas can be  51  , and life will move on. You’ll find all the peas   52 , including the ones that are hardest to find. And when you’ve got them   53  you’ll start to feel whole again.
The life you know can break apart at any time. But you’ll have to   54 , and how fast you collect your peas depends on you. Will you keep scattering them around with a broom,  55  will you pick them up one by one and put your life back together?

  Dear Mr Price,

I have eaten in your restaurant many times and have always been happy with the food and service. What happened last Saturday evening made me disappointed.

Our first waitress, Janet, was polite and helpful. She gave us free drinks for waiting not long. Our food also came quickly and looked fresh and nice. When my wife had eaten most of her meal, she found a dead cockroach(蟑螂)in the vegetables, she was shocked and waned to leave. At first, the waitress told us it was a piece of garlic(大蒜).When we told her that garlic did not have legs, she apologized and took the food away.

We asked for the bill, expecting not to pay for my wife’s meal.Nobody came. After 15 minutes, I asked to see the manager. The head waiter told us that you were on holiday.I complained again about the horrible cockroach. He told me Janet had finished working. He didn’t believe my story and gave me bill for three meals.I argued with him but was forced to pay.

The waitress, Janet, was always friendly, but I would like an apology from your impolite head waiter and a full refund for our meals which cost $68.Until then, I will not eat at your restaurant or recommend it to anyone.

Dear Mr. Price,

I have eaten in your restaurant many times and have always been happy with the food and service. This makes what happened last Saturday even more disappointing.

It was my son’s birthday so we booked a non-smoking table at your restaurant for 7:30 p.m. We arrived on time but were told that our table was not yet ready. At 8:00 p.m., we were given a table in the smoking section. I asked to move but I was told that there were no other tables. A lot of people were smoking so it was uncomfortable and unhealthy.

Our first waitress, Janet, was very polite and helpful. She gave us free drinks for waiting so long. Our food also came quickly and looked fresh and tasty. When my wife had eaten most of her meal, she found a dead cockroach (蟑螂) in her vegetables. She was shocked and wanted to leave. At first, the waitress told us it was a piece of garlic. When we told her that garlic does not have legs, she apologized and took the food away.

We asked for the bill, expecting not to pay for my wife’s meal. Nobody came. After 15 minutes, I asked to see the manager. The head waiter told us that you were on holiday I complained again about the horrible cockroach. He told me Janet had finished work. He didn’t believe my story and gave me a bill for three meals. I argued with him but was forced to pay.

The waitress, Janet, was always friendly, but I would like an apology from your impolite head waiter and a full repayment for our meal. It cost $68. Until then, I will not be eating at your restaurant or recommending it to anyone.

Thank you for your attention.
